Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes tells U.S. Supreme Court to shove it

Colorado has a law on the books that says, in simple terms, a business open to the public can’t discriminate against gay people.

The radical right-wing majority of the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling last week saying that, yes, it can.

The court took the side of a web designer in Colorado who said it was her First Amendment right to refuse to design wedding websites for same-sex couples.

Arizona has a law much like Colorado’s.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced in no uncertain terms that her office is determined to enforce it.

The Supreme Court be damned.

I know Yahoo hosts this as an opinion piece, but it is no different in tone or substance than their normal “news” articles.

Petulant, fear-mongering, racist, against all things good or normal. The depth of their journalism reminds me of an angry mob of 17 year-olds.

“The radical right-wing majority” “The extremist majority”...Hey, fools, you’re always telling us about “Our Democracy.” It’s dangerous when it enforces constitutional law over a policy they prefer, but heroic when it damns the law and upends thousands of years of civil practice. Get it? Yahoo does!

Quotes on an Amendment XIV, Section 3 use by a judge:

A judge in New Mexico declared Tuesday that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was an “insurrection” as he ruled that Otero County Commissioner and “Cowboys for Trump” founder Couy Griffin must be removed from office for participating in the attack.

Griffin is barred for life from holding any federal or state office — including his current role as county commissioner, from which he will be ousted “effective immediately,” Judge Francis Mathew ruled.

Griffin became “constitutionally disqualified” from those positions as of Jan. 6, 2021, the judge concluded.

Evidently the AZ Ag no longer is practicing law in Arizona. What they advocate is clearly lawless behavior.

We Arizonans need to let her know if she does it we citizens will demand her license be revoked.

I’m sick of leftist lawyers breaking the law.

So if someone is convicted under this unconstitutional law can't the accused appeal directly to the Federal courts and see that conviction quickly invalidated?

Remember the country elected Obama twice and Biden.

I honestly don't think we did. I think if only legitimate votes would have been counted, we'd never have had Obama or Biden.

It was not the gay person who was discriminated against, it was the message (gay wedding) which potentially violated the religious freedom of the business owner. The business owner would have honored most other printing/design orders from the gay customer.

Design businesses can discriminate. You cannot force a content creator to create for something they have intense moral/religious opposition to. A Jewish content creator cannot be forced to create content for a Nazi rally, even if it is a gay Nazi rally.

I know a lot of people who packed up and moved from California to Arizona to escape Wokeism. And Arizona is pretty much becoming a mini California with crappy weather and no beaches.

” (the web designer) said it was her First Amendment right to refuse to design wedding websites for same-sex couples”

Except that was not the position taken. It was not because the couple was gay, it was always about the content they requested to be displayed on the website.

NY hasn’t. Supreme Court said they couldn’t put onerous restricti9ns on gun owners and bar them from certain places, yet that is exactly what ny has done.

"What they said, was that a business and not be compelled to perform a service."

Yup. I posted somewhere else (don't really remember where...) that you cannot compel a business to perform a service for you if they do not perform that service at all, for anyone. Libs just like to twist words....

You’re not paying attention. Our side is racking up the win column, the left is barking at the moon en masse and the commie media is in full assault, yet we’re still winning. We have a lot more work to do, and now is time to double down. The “Overton Window” is moving and we need to keep pushing it in the right direction.

Keep up the mo! Tell everybody in your circle of influence to keep it up, we can and we will retake this country from the loser leftards. The good guys had a great week last week, a great foundation to build upon.

“…and NO ONE can or will stop her. “

This has been decided in the courts. The losing side has said THEY WILL DEFY LAW and in doing so will presumably enforce their own ideas as law itself and, in this case, sanction or arrest and jail anyone who disagrees with their ideas.

I know how I’d respond in such a situation.
