China’s military won’t talk to the US ー so what?
Asia Times ^

US officials keep asking China for mil-to-mil communications. But the Chinese military knows, if you want to make Americans uncomfortable, don’t talk to them.

During his recent visit to China, Secretary of State Antony Blinken repeatedly asked his hosts to set up a military-to-military crisis communications hotline. The Chinese declined.

USINDOPACOM commander Admiral John Aquilino complained earlier this year that the Chinese were ignoring his requests to establish direct communications channels with the Chinese military People’s Liberation Army (PLA) regional commands.

And Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was rebuffed when he sought a meeting with China’s Defense Minister Li Shangfu during the Shangri-La Dialogue in June.

Why? So people like Milley can tell the PLA our secrets?

The strong do what they will. The weak suffer what they must.

It’s disgusting how biden’s handlers have turned our government into a groveling supplicant at Xi’s feet.

We don’t need to talk to them. Our bigger concern is how to decouple commerce with China otherwise we’ll be buying cheap products from them while their military potentially is fighting ours or do people suggest we let container ships continue bringing cheap goods, funding China?

They never call, they never write. Oh yeah, the military is not a lonely hearts club. they are just supposed to kill people and break things-something that our military is no longer very good at.

That regime we have now wants to talk so they can lie and bully. Nobody likes or trusts them because of their propensity to peddle backstabbing BS so they don’t want to talk to them.

With the Biden regime, you are supposed to listen to them, not talk. The best way to deal with them is to deny them what they want.

This is why the Biden regime is so dangerous. They are arrogant crazy in their dealings.

The next step is sanctions on China and they know it. That is why Grandma Money is on her way with Blinken.

We manufacture very little in the US. We aren’t in the driver’s seat with China. They can cut us off and we can quit paying them. They are already set up with the manufacturing capacity to produce product, we are not.

They also own a great deal of the US as our political class lines their pockets with money from China deals.

There are good reasons to talk with China and then there are the not so good reasons which is what the Biden regime is always about.

Janet Yellen to the rescue. The 76yo Secretary of the Treasury is headed to Beijing this week.

Um, did I say surrender. Are you and either or person?

I was saying that the Biden regime has an agenda. Why do you think they are running all over the world provoking and agitating? They do not want to handle anything diplomatically, they bully and want to call the shots. They want war, They start with the meddling in the affairs of other countries, even our “enemies”, then they move to sanctions, then war. Those countries are well aware of the game and are reacting in their own way. It is sickening to watch considering this regime is illegitimate.

I never mentioned surrender. You did. Why?

“We manufacture very little in the US. We aren’t in the driver’s seat with China. They can cut us off and we can quit paying them. They are already set up with the manufacturing capacity to produce product, we are not.”

Just yesterday China cut us off from Gallium. So, it looks like we won’t be making solar panels, transistor chips, and other electronics, after all. No big deal, at least for the Neocons.

Oh, by the way, we USED TO produce and refine Gallium, but that ended in 1987, probably due to the Leftists (Ukraine War supporters) in some way - Union Labor Cost, Environmental Regulations, OHSA, etc...

Sorry, I'm feeling a bit black and white on the issue. We need to draw a line in relations with China, across the board. No more commerce, treat them like pre-1972 and the same as North Korea and Iran. BTW, on a tangent, what is our trade levels buy/sell with Russia?

And we can decouple from China, better to do it now, without hostilities complicating it, than later with. And anyone saying we can't hasn't consider the latter--no way could we be buying products from China if we are in military conflict with them..

Explain decoupling process you think we need. Do you understand that many things that say manufactured in the USA are just assembled here with parts made in China.

We have medicine, phones, weaponry, you name it, it is made in China.

They have filthy skies? well yeah, they manufacture stuff, our stuff, because our politicians made it so and it mucks up the environment.

We have a weak citizenry, the young have been poorly educated, made lazy and self absorbed. Who is going to rebuild that industrial capacity to replace what we get made in China. Dylan Mulvaney types?

America as a nation state is over and has seen it’s better days. We have no borders and we are run by people best described as demons who have a death grip on us

Trump was right when he said the people who have been in charge of America are stupid. They are stupid, but they are evil, cunning, and power mad . Their interests are not the interests of the American people or this country.

We have cleaner industry, better regulation maybe, whatever so the pollution side will generally work itself out. How do we decouple? First, if by tariff, maybe increase over two years--now, 25%, at one year 50%, at two years 100%. That might be one route. Another would be interest free loans, maybe tax remedies for companies onshoring their Chinese operations. For non-essential items, maybe ban them from China after one year. In all, quick transition to US or non-Chinese sources.

I'm sure there are other approaches. What about you, how would you decouple?

China is not interested in talk. Has anyone looked at their navy lately? They are full of confidence because nobody stops their island grabbing. Who needs talk, when they can do whatever they want.
