Not at my battery, but that was nearly 40 years ago. My last job in the Army was HQ battery commander at Fort Bliss. I had great support from the Colonels who were in charge of 5 directorates. Nobody was exempt from taking the PT test.

I led PT 5 days a week: 20 minutes of calisthenics, followed by a two mile run in formation.

Our pass rate was nearly 99%, 5 out of 300+ soldiers flunked it the first time, all passed on the retake.

In addition to the 5 Colonels, the Base Commander was in my battery. My only problem was with the Battalion Commander, who led by fear and intimidation...we didn't get along very well...lol. He was 180 degrees from my battalion commander in Germany, who demanded intelligence and imagination from his officers.

I was getting out after my command anyway, so I ran the battery as I wanted to.
