He's still got it: Donald Trump shuts down CITY ahead of huge rally that's first 2024 campaign rally since classified documents indictment
Daily Mail ^ | 7/01/23 | Rob Crilly

If anyone thought Donald Trump's legals woes would eat into his public support in red state America then no one thought to tell the people of Pickens, South Carolina.

Its population of 3,300 was swollen by thousands more who crammed into its main street to see the former president hold his first rally since being being charged with mishandling classified documents.

Supporters behind him waved 'witch hunt' signs as he described how he had been charged under the Espionage Act.

'Me? the espionage act?' he said, describing how it was a an 'act for crimes so heinous' that the death penalty was needed.

'it's one of the most vicious legal theories ever put in a court of law. there's never been anything like this,' he added.

Insiders said the words were not the most important thing. The size of the crowd was what mattered about the day, making it a huge show of support.

And it brought the former president to one of the early state's most pro-Trump counties, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The tiny city of Pickens closed its streets for the former president, packing in supporters who had traveled from North Carolina and Georgia, as well as South Carolina.

They stood on Main Street, between the county courthouse and Biven's hardware store.

They heard Trump describe how as president he had 'absolute right' to declassify documents. And he said he was changing up his language because of the way he had been forced to appear in court earlier this month.

'Now the gloves are off from that standpoint, what they've done is so terrible,' he said.

'So I'll speak differently than I would have three weeks ago...'

Trump invited the Rushingbrook Children's Choir, from nearby Greenville, to perform after they were prevented from signing the national anthem at the U.S. Capitol

I wish I could have booed Lindsey Graham.

What's stopping you? Not proximity, I trust. The pen is mightier than the vocal swords.

“Trump needs to eject Linda. No ifs, ands, or buts.”

Perhaps you’re correct.

Whoever arranged the South Carolina rally thought/calculated that they shouldn’t/coulsn’t alienate Lindsay Graham, who represents South Carolina - that such a snub might backfire among bordereline Republicans, etec. Or perhaps Trump himself made the call to include Graham and seem to be the bigger person. All of this speculation, of course, but surely the dilemma must have been discussed. Maybe the thought was “Better to have one’s enemy close... etc Had Graham not been there, he would not have encounted over a hundred thousand people booing him, nor would the public on cite and watching from afar have had that booing an indelible memory. Perhaps the possibiliity or likelihood of Graham’s being booed was part of the calculus.

I’m giving Pres. Trump the benefit of the doubt that he was only referring to US history, but I understand what you’re saying. However, even our history is riddled with vicious, unjust outcomes in our legal system, but they don’t usually affect the entire nation and its future in so blatant a manner and in so short a time.

Of course, Jesus the Christ’s case was the ultimate injustice, but God the Father deemed it necessary in order for our sins to be washed away by our Savior’s precious, sacred blood for all time. No one can even come close to the profoundness of the unjust, evil treatment of the perfect, forever holy Son of God and the blessings that came from it.

Whoever runs that monument. They say it makes the Indians mad also. I think it’s the national park service. They got really torqued about that Trump rally.
