Jim Edmonds has MLB Twitter outraged.
The St. Louis Cardinals legend, 53, is getting dragged online after discussing how some professional sports teams changed their names – as many consider the previous monikers racist and insensitive – with some voicing for Edmonds to “do better!”
Edmonds, a color commentator for the Cardinals on Bally Sports Midwest, named the Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins as examples during Thursday night’s game between St. Louis and Houston. “I actually got quite a few messages on social media about some of the teams and then, you know it’s really funny when people reach out to you and say, ‘Hey, I’m from this area and we really love our baseball here,’ Edmonds told broadcaster Chip Caray.

Edmonds will be fighting this battle pretty much solo. The left has neutered most of the right. Politicians *and* citizens.
?? I read the article but missed the controversial anti woke part.
I always thought the names Redskins and Indians were out of respect for their warrior aspect of their culture.
Silly me.
I wonder if Native Americans sensitivity to this leads ultimately to their utter exclusion from the thoughts of the rest of the country? Oblivion, here we come, running!
The Injuns ain’t the ones complaining. It’s the white liberals!
The Cleveland Indians used to be called the Cleveland Spiders. They later had two native Americans on the team, and they suggested the name change.
There was an announcer last year (Puerto Rican, maybe?) and he kept calling them the Indians, and his white co-announcer kept correcting him, and looking exasperated.
Oblivion will be the result. All by design for an eventual year Zero. That is when they will kill all people over 65 and start a glorious Utopia.
Not a single team name The Squaws?
No youth league teams named Papooses?
This is getting tiresome.
I don’t read many native Americans complaining. Most actually give teams permission, like the Seminoles for FSU and the Sioux who gave NDSU ok to use “ Fighting Sioux” although NDSU did change the name.
It was the faux enraged Woke who drove the controversy.

Yup. Just like most of the members of BLM are white liberals.
“I always thought the names Redskins and Indians were out of respect for their warrior aspect of their culture. Silly me.”
My old school university football team was called the Indians in honor of their warriors. It was a good an honorable name. Political correction took over. We are now the “War Hawks.” That is as close as could be to saying the forbidden word “Indian.”
If I were a descendant of an Indian Warrior I would be pissed off about the name change.
Edmonds is married to an Indian. Shouldn’t that give him cachet on the subject?
I am on the right, and I am not silent! Jim Edmonds, perhaps the greatest outfielder to play the game, is spot on. Go Jim, do what is right. You were given your incredible talent from God Almighty. Don’t desert Him.
The “Fightin’ Mulvaneys” is available to any team looking for a new name.
How many people, who were “offended,” were NOT white college educated women?
I want to witness the day these libs go to the local reservation and demand Hoopa High change their name from The Warriors.
