Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t cluster munitions banned because they dispense what are considered land mines?

Not banned.
Some entities said they wouldnt use them.
I would think thermobaric bombs (fuel air explosives) and the means to deliver a LOT of them would be helpful to the Ukes as well.

That is what I thought, but you know, the US has become a criminal state. We don’t need no stinkin’ morals now.

No, as stated by Geneva- illegal to use on civilian targets only. The US saturated Iraq with them, kids/ farmers are still getting blown up to this day by these “ UXO” devices- Unexploded Munitions. The US dud rate is 30 percent.

Just one of our 155 Cluster munitions shells carries 66 M42/ M62 series “ bomblets”. I am very, very informed with these nasty weapons from a previous job overseas. The usage of these turns huge areas uninhabitable until EOD teams can clear them.

The US has much blood on their hands- and it will never wash off- ever.

Some nations have banned them US and Russia have not. They are not land mines but a bunch of submunitions designed to cover a large area. Some are designed to destroy armor others are antipersonnel. They are quite effective, the issue with them in the past (US used thousands of them) is that there was a high rate of failure leaving the submunitions spread around causing death and maiming when stumbled upon by civilians.

My understanding is that Turkey has already supplied these shells to Ukraine, but the us has some 100k in inventory and they would be very effective against trenches and esp open field maneuvers

BTW US has supplies 155mm artillery shells with 9 submunition land mines which the Ukrainians have used to great effect
Pretty sure Russians have a similar item as well

Russians have used cluster munitions and phosphorus shells as well.

War is hell and rules are for politicians safely behind the lines

We just play with definitions but never really ban most of these things.

Examples:

ADAM: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_denial_artillery_munition
GEMSS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEMSS_mine_system
RAAMS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Anti-Armor_Mine_System
GATOR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GATOR_mine_system
VOLCANO: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano_mine_system
MOPMS: (wiki has no entry for this) https://www.bulletpicker.com/dispenser_-m131.html
WAM: (a more modern derivative from this - we updated this and mass produced a better one yet) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M93_Hornet_mine

And this is already old stuff.
