It is very sad to see our readership and donations dropping off like this.

I still believe that Free Republic has the best news and commentary format on the entire Web.

Reader age is probably one factor - many of us are in our 70s or older now. My first visit here was election night, Gore vs. Bush, in November 2000. I misplaced my original FR password, and I had to start over as a newbie in 2004.

My own impression is that we lost a lot of readers during the very controversial Q-period that flourished during the Trump first term. I also feel like FR has often been besieged by trolls during the last six years.

Regardless, Free Republic has been my primary source for political news and debate for the last twenty years.

I am very sorry to hear that Jim Robinson is in poor health.

His vision and dedication to the success of Free Republic has inspired all of us for many years.
