Elon Musk’s Twitter faces a 28-day ultimatum from Australia’s internet safety watchdog to take decisive action against what it considers online abuse and “hate speech,” or face daily fines of $475,000.
France24 reports that Julie Inman Grant, Australia’s eSafety commissioner, has issued a stern warning to Twitter in a move to muzzle free speech. Twitter has been given 28 days to prove that it is serious about combating what Australia considers online abuse and “hate speech.” There could be daily fines of $700,000 AUD ($475,000 USD) for noncompliance.

Only under Anarcho-tyranny can such a thing exist.
The obamian death to America agenda went global about 10 years ago.
Its the marxist muslim alliance and their war on white western Europeans christians and their advancements labeled as capitalist.
This is the mentality of the deep state and its influence in the world.
Thanks. I’ll be here all week. 😁👍
Stupid. Who gets to define hate? Oh yeah, the fascist.
“a country that turned itself back into a penal colony,”
That has amazed me — they way they caved to totalitarians considering their roots. If any countries should extremely balk they SHOULD be America and Australia.
Please specify who we can hate and who is off limits first.
He’s cutting down the kiddie porn Twitter tolerated. Twitter was fine portraying conservative Christians as KKK members who should not be allowed to live. Twitter smiled on those posts saying the unvaxxed should be allowed to die etc.

The buffet is awesome!
No - it’s a game of chicken:
1. Australia threatens to fine Twitter if it does not censor “hate speech”.
2. Musk ignores the threat and changes nothing.
3. Australia informs Twitter it owes $$$$ in fines.
4. Musk ignores the fines as well.
What is Australia’s recourse? Nothing.
The only leverage Australia has over Twitter is if Musk values having access to the Australian markets enough to a) pay the fines, or b) censor the “hate speech”. If he doesn’t care about access to the Australian markets, he doesn’t have to change anything - it’s up to Australia to block its own citizens if it so chooses.
All Australia can do is.boot Twitter off Australian soil (if there is even a physical presence) and off of Australian airwaves - it can’t compel Musk to censor or to pay fines.
End them!!
No, but our Deep State calls the shots. If the U.S. opposed Australia's "hate speech" laws, the Aussies would back down.
This is also an example of the U.S. govt outsourcing censorship. The First Amendment prohibits the U.S. govt from censoring, so it has private companies and foreign govts do it for them.
I believe it’s the other way around.....
Been happening a long time now..............with OZ
A friend of mine worked for years in Australia in the 70s and 80s. He liked to tell Aussies that even though they spoke English they were still a third-world country.
