BREAKING: All passengers on the missing Titanic sub are believed to be dead, says OceanGate company which operated the vessel
Next time, opt for the three hour cruise of the islands.
Especially the 19yo. š
Media misinformation has been going on for far longer than I had ever imagined.
“Does āall believedā suggest maybe one of them got his life preserver on and swam to the surface?”
Well, maybe one of them had too much to drink the night before, overslept, and missing the final boarding.
I pray it was quick.
LOL
We spend so much time these days bending the frayed edges of reality, along comes certain death and itās rather bracing. No do overs?
I saw one brief mention that they had lunches and water for about eight hours. Poor SOB’s never made it to lunch time. The trip was supposed to last only for the day. They had a terlet that was behind a screen but I expect no one got a chance to use it.
You’re thinking of the Scorpion. The after section of the hull “telescoped” leaving the prop and the drive line laying in the mud. The reduction gear mount, where the prop shaft mounts, is the solidest section of the hull so that when the hull collapses it squeezes itself from end to end. The bow, forward of the reactor compartment, had a big hole in itself so there was no pressure to telescope which is why the torpedo room is more or less intact.
Thank you for the information. Glad I put Scorpion in parens. I remember Thresher at the time, watching NBC. What you describe shows the brute power of the implosion. Chills me.
Memo to self. When I hit net worth a billion or more. Do not get into any outer space rocket and submersible sub or whatever.
... pretty sure the Navy or whomever listens to the vast array of hydrophones that criss-cross the oceans knows exactly when the implosion happened. Good luck getting that info out of them however.
You do know that when Ballard found the Titanic it was actually a mission to locate a lost (USA?) sub. The Titanic was a bonus.
Only if they remember to exhale as they go up.
What the navy admiral actual said was, “We heard no sound like an implosion after the time communications was lost”.
You think they heard that final crack of the hull?
Someone must have whispered “aw shit”
Yes, their way of skirting the issue.
They wouldn’t ave even gotten out the “aw”. Sub officer said it happens in 2 nanoseconds. Your spinal cord figures out something is wrong in 4 nanoseconds.
Technically speaking, there isn’t anyone ON the sub. They are just near the sub.
