I took his remark to be more about hiring a bunch of kids he could boss around and pay a lower wage to then being woke.

Professional adults wouldn’t let him cut the corners he was cutting without putting up a fight.

They fired the old white guy who did warn them in a board meeting. Had him escorted out of the building right then and there. I guess that showed him.

Nope. He wouldn’t hire “50-yo white guys” (usually former military) because he doesn’t consider them capable of “inspiration”. Instead, he hired kids basically right out of college because of their youthfulness and, in his mind, would bring new ideas to the table.

Ultimately, he shunned experience over bright shiny things. He also fired David Lochridge, formerly OceanGate's director of marine operations for the Titan project, because David kept rejecting designs for clear safety issues. He then sued David for contract violations when David talked about his concerns.

His arrogance and pride cost him his life and the lives of the other 4 people he talked into this.
