I just watched the Coast Guard presser a few minutes ago. The ROVs have found the fishtail cover on the rear and the metal frame it sits in. They say the actual hull most likely imploded and there is zero chance of any survival based on the evidence.
The families have been notified and the Coast Guard will start to pull out in 24 hours time and the ROV’s will continue for awhile.
Got it; tx.
The official press conference - this link will take you to where they describe what they found: https://youtu.be/rYXHnruTguM?t=990
They found the rear fairing (though the guy said nose) first outside the debris field. Then they found the front end bell of the pressure hull, the viewport unit, in its own debris field. Nearby they found the aft end bell of the pressure hull and some remains of the hull itself in its own debris field. The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion.
Left unsaid is that there won’t be any identifiable remains after such an event. And I mean identifiable as in ‘there won’t be anything you can tell was part of a human body’ not even ‘can’t tell who it was’.
