Debris has been found in the search for the missing Titan submersible, reportedly including parts of its outside cover. Dive expert David Mearns told the BBC the president of the Explorers Club - which is connected to the diving and rescue community - says the debris includes "a landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible". The US Coast Guard earlier confirmed a "debris field" had been found within the search area. It was located by a remote-controlled underwater search vehicle (ROV) near the wreck of the Titanic. A US Coast Guard news conference is scheduled for 1500 EST (1900 GMT) on Thursday afternoon. The Titan vessel went missing in a remote area of the North Atlantic on Sunday with a four-day oxygen supply for its crew of five.
Some experts have speculated that it could have suffered a catastrophic implosion as a result of a hull failure. The minivan-sized submersible was owned and operated by the private company OceanGate Expeditions. The firm's co-founder, Guillermo Söhnlein, told the BBC that he believes there may have been an "instantaneous implosion" of the craft. "If that's what happened, that's what would have happened four days ago," he said.

Our worst fears are confirmed. I pray they are in good Hands now. God bless them all.
Somewhere it said the debris field was ~1600(?) feet from the Titanic wreckage.
Why go, even in a safe vehicle, if you can’t accurately navigate down beside it?
And, somewhere else, it was said this vessel had previously gone down and could not find the wreckage.
(Yeah, I understand that what’s “said” can be wildly inaccurate)
There was at least one 50-something white guy in on the design. He refused to sign off on manned test dives until the hull was given a complete scan. He was fired and the project went ahead without him.
It would be interesting to know for sure, but the implosion took care of that. Had the carbon fiber merely cracked and eventually evened out PSI, have to believe iPhone 13/14 might have been pingable for a minute or two, with the battery access finally giving way, long enough to fix a smaller search area -- IF the mothership knew wtf to do in a catastrophic situ. And there's no evidence of that, which means Mr. Billionaire's estate is going to literally pay out millions to a Mooselimb front factory.
What kind of idiot(s) wakes up one morning and decides he or she wants to jump into a tin can that’s bolted down from the outside with no way out on your own then dropped down 2 miles into an unforgiving dark ocean?
LOL, well done.
Tyey probably figured that the 2 materials combined would be cheaper than thicker titanium steel plate.
You are the only human species allowed to be openly discriminated against, beaten, robbed, or murdered, by certain groups in society and our own government.
There is NO way you have knowledge over any wokie. :)
“Home Depot was founded by a white guy.”
Two white guys.
Doesn’t help much but they did, indeed, have a terlet. It was at the rear behind a screen-—for privacy, of course.
I don’t believe they had descend to the bottom yet.
“Well, that oughta do it for any future sight-seeing trips to the Titanic.”
Such a pessimist.
If you think of the glass as half full, this creates fantastic opportunities to run submersible tours to view the debris field of the Titan.
You could call the submersible the “Ic”.
Hopefully, the vehicle was not in trouble before the disintegration.
I like thinking the entire crew was excited and thrilled, then, poof, dead in the blink of an eye.
I am surprised the craft did not have a data recorder that would jettison and float to the surface.
That would create a much smaller search area, and the surface crew would know exactly what was happening at the moment of release.
Should be able to determine how deep they were by the scatter on the debris field.
Below 700 feet there is no “merely cracked”. Any leakage, of any size, would have “dieseled” the contents of the sub-—including the plastic cell phones-—they’re done, Jim.
Same here Same place Same story.
I believe there were at least 3 maybe 4 portholes, one from a bathroom.
Did you buy a piece of Titanic coal?
I wouldn’t even go over Niagara Falls in that thing!
Ok. Good.
Yes
Condolences to the families
