Should be able to determine how deep they were by the scatter on the debris field.
Their last contact was - from memory - at 3,300 meters, or 10,800 feet.
The Titanic is at 12,500 feet.
Current is usually 1 mph to 2 mph at great depth.
If there are cross currents, good luck with the math!
