Ron DeSantis Hosts D.C. Fundraiser at Dominion’s Lawyer’s Office
The National Pulse ^ | June 21, 2023 | RAHEEM J. KASSAM

Would-be GOP nominee Ron DeSantis is hosting a fundraiser at the offices of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, one of the top D.C. lobbying firms who served as lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems, and count amongst their top directors Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s former chief of staff.

The event will take place on June 23rd, in Suite 1200 at 1155 F Street NW – otherwise known as the offices of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, which also famously dropped the Republican National Committee as a client in a lawsuit against the Democrat Party’s Jan 6 Committee.

One of the key names on the invite is Marc Lampkin, a lobbyist for the firm with links to the Chinese Communist Party, as well as Big Pharma and the puberty blocker industry.

Critically, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck boasts of representing Dominion Voting Systems, stating on its website:

“Dominion Voting Systems, a provider of voting technology in 28 states, faced baseless allegations of fraud in the 2020 election. They needed a defense team with not only a strong reputation but the ability to manage the lawsuit while maintaining a nonpartisan stance. Dominion turned to Brownstein. Our team secured a quick dismissal. The federal judge subsequently awarded attorneys fees and costs to the defendants and imposed sanctions on the plaintiffs’ attorneys who brought the frivolous and politically motivated lawsuit purportedly on behalf of all registered voters. This comprehensive resolution was not only crucial in maintaining Dominion’s ability to support elections and rebuking threats against its employees, but also in correcting misinformation propagated to the general public.”

Dominion first retained the firm in 2019, with Nadeem Elshami – Pelosi’s former chief of staff – listed as one of the specific lobbyists. Dominion’s six figure annual payments for representation continue to this day.

In February, DeSantis hosted Dominion lawyer Libby Locke for a panel discussion about defamation in Hialeah Gardens, Florida.

Great. Now we can move on.

Riddle me this...did Congress pass the bill that enacted the ban?

Since you know the bill was passed by Congress why aren’t you just as angry with Congress as you are with 45?

Why aren't you angry with the Supreme Court for rejecting challenges to the ban?
I sure am, and with Congress as well.

Laying the problem at the feet of one person shows your narrow mindedness.
A myopic view of things hides much from the observer.

Some of us knew that this was coming.

“But of course,” we say.

I hate it when I’m right sometimes.

Really, ALL the people who supported Trump now support DeSantis. Are you sure about your claim?

Re: 141 - I’m not sure what you are referring to. Congress had nothing to do with enacting the ban - the request to ban bump stocks was initiated by President Trump and was enacted through regulatory action.

Re: 142 - Sure I am disappointed, if by that you mean Congress and the President giving ATF the ability (initially decades ago) to regulate firearms in this manner.

Re: 143 - now it’s your turn. Please provide the case(s) where the USSC refused to hear challenges to the bump stock ban.

Laying the problem at the feet of one person shows your narrow mindedness.

Oh, come on. There would be no bump stock ban if it were not for one person - President Trump. He directed Jeff Sessions to initiate a request that ultimately resulted in a bump stock being classified as a machine gun. In other words, the President used the Federal bureaucracy - some might call it the Deep State - to classify a gun part to be equivalent to a machine gun.

Can do.

Supreme Court Refuses to Hear 2 Cases on Federal Bump Stock Ban

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected two challenges to a federal regulation banning the use of bump stocks, accessories to semiautomatic weapons that allow the discharge of several bullets every time the trigger is pulled (as opposed to just one).

Supreme Court again rejects challenge to ‘bump stock’ ban 11/14/22

The Supreme Court on Monday once again declined to hear a challenge to the federal ban on “bump stock” devices that modify semi-automatic rifles to fire more rapidly.

Combined...US Supreme Court will not hear challenge to bump stock ban

The US Supreme Court Monday denied a petition for a writ of certiorari in McCutchen v. United States, a challenge to the US Supreme Court will not hear challenge to bump stock banban on gun bump stocks. Promulgated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the ban prevents anyone from possessing bump-stock-type devices, including slide-fire devices, and encourages possessors to either destroy or turn in their devices. I stand corrected.

Oh, come on. There would be no bump stock ban if it were not for one person - President Trump.

PLEASE! Stupid comment. Lots of people want Americans disarmed
and this is just one more attempt.

We can blunt the blow from Congress, but we all know...

Like other machineguns, rifles modified with bump stocks are exceedingly dangerous; Congress prohibited the possession of such weapons for good reason.” US Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar wrote in the new filing with the Supreme Court. “The decision below contradicts the best interpretation of the statute, creates an acknowledged circuit conflict, and threatens significant harm to public safety. The end of the article has some interesting factoids. Here is one... In 2018, the ATF classified the devices as machine guns under the National Firearms Act after then-President Donald Trump ordered a review of bump stocks – which were used in the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting a few months prior.
The ATF being the ATF and Congress is to blame too.

...the Justice Department said...

Well, there’s a circuit split now, as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in early-January ruled the ban unconstitutional:

LOL. You can call it a stupid comment all you like.

But the fact remains that the bump stock ban got started at the direction of President Trump.

Yes, Congress gave the ATF the statutory authority to issue rules, etc regarding firearms. That power was not used to ban bump stocks until President Trump directed AG Sessions to start work on the matter.

And has President Trump ever stated that the ban was a mistake - that he should not have done that?

And stick to the issues - you’ve stated I’m narrow minded and that I posted a stupid comment.

If you can’t stick to the issues, then what’s the point?

“ I live in New York State, have all my life. I know what it’s like to be stabbed in the back by the politicians in Albany, and Washington. I figured that De Santis didn’t just decide to run for President. It’s not a decision you make in a week, or a month. It takes a lot of planning before you even announce. I think he’d been planning on it for quite a while, and especially while he was begging people in the State to re-elect him. He just needed to cement his second term to do it, so he did lie to the people when he asked them to trust him enough to elect him Governor again. He’s an extremely self-serving political opportunist.”

I don’t hate DeSantis. But, I do dislike that he turned on President Trump—at a time when solidarity would have been more appropriate and important to reclaiming the government from DC elites and restoring our constitutional republic. So, what you said sounds about right to me.
