My grandmother knew people that lived during reconstruction. Now that her generation is long gone, history no longer includes their narratives.

I've learned that a lot of "official" history is just bullsh*t. They cover up the truth because it makes the government look bad both in it's actions and it's corruption.

The big government liberals who like high taxes have always lived in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and so forth. Guess where these same liberals live today?

Terribly wrong there. A century ago the New England Yankees were penny pinching conservatives. Southerners and Westerners were poorer and were the big spending liberals.

Urban political machines became favorable towards federal spending when it was offered, but virtually all the urban machine politicians were Democrats, and in those days, Republicans could still get elected in Boston, New York, Chicago, and other cities.

The North wanted to extend Free Labor into the Terrritories. The South wanted to extend Slavery into them. But the North was gaining more States and Population. The War was about the West. It was also WON by Westerners. The Eastern Generals were ineffective.

Exactly. Must have been a lot of 2nd/3rd/4th generation Confederate Polish, German, Irish, Swedes, Greeks, Jews etc where I grew up on the south side of Chicago where I heard the N word a million times in my youth.

According to Thomas Sowell, blacks who assimilated into the dominate American culture lived in northern white neighborhoods and were accepted by their white neighbors. Their children attended white schools and did just as well as the white kids. Those black folk were just as appalled by the uncouth, redneck-assimilated blacks who migrated north and proceeded to destroy neighborhoods and entire cities.

I have a house deed from the 1940’s in a suburb of Chicago belonging to long since deceased ancestors. Has a no negro covenant in it.
