Kremlin official suggests Russia could one day try to reclaim Alaska from the US

A Russian official this week threatened the US over the freezing of Russian assets, urging it to remember that Alaska was once part of Russia's territory.

"Let America always remember: there is a part of its territory that is Russia — Alaska," Vyacheslav Volodin, a Putin ally and speaker of the Russian parliament's lower house, said on Wednesday, according to multiple media outlets.

"When they attempt to appropriate our assets abroad, they should be aware that we also have something to claim back," Volodin added.

In other hawkish comments made on Wednesday, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy secretary of Russia's Security Council, posted a long tirade on Telegram in which he slammed "any attempts to create tribunals or courts" to investigate Russia's actions in Ukraine.

"It won't work with Russia, they know it well," Medvedev wrote. "That's why the rotten dogs of war are barking in such a disgusting way."

Warning that it would be "absurd" to try to "punish a country with the largest nuclear potential," Medvedev also slammed the US for attempting to "spread chaos and destruction across the world for the sake of 'true democracy.'

"The entire US history since the times of subjugation of the native Indian population represents a series of bloody wars," Medvedev wrote, referencing other US actions such as its bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II and its involvement in the Vietnam War.

"Was anyone held responsible for those crimes? What tribunal condemned the sea of blood spilled by the U.S. there?" Medvedev asked.

Medvedev's comments were not the first time the Russians threatened Ukraine's allies with nuclear warfare. In May, a Russian propagandist warned that a nuclear strike could wipe out the UK and Ireland.

IS?

What, didn't he learn what the meaning of is, is from Bill Clinton?

To Volodin:

Was does not equal is.

Come and take it. You will fail just from Alaskans themselves.

I am not accepting Russian sources for my belief.

Our current regime first stated we supported no labs in Ukraine and then later changed the story to admit we funded “medical research” in Ukraine as normal cooperation between civilized governments.

So first a denial then changed the story to something more palpable for the masses.

Next I considered how our government previously lied about covid. Honestly, just those two positions is enough to give reasonable cause to be suspicious of our activities in Ukraine. Are you ready to defend Fauci and all the lies about covid? That is the basis for my skepticism now.

As I see it Occam’s Razor in this case would point to the likely possibility we did indeed have such labs in Ukraine. I base it not on Russian, Ukraine or US propaganda. I base it on my review of all that material I have considered to this point and find it most likely Russia and Ukraine are bad actors and the US did have some kind of military bio research occurring in Ukraine.

How ‘bout we ‘return’ San Francisco to the Kremlin, and call it even?

No, but the Russians did massacre native Baltics, Finns, Turks, Mongols, Caucasians, Cirrcasians, Georgians, Armenians, Ajeris, Persians, Altaians, Chelkans, Telengits, Tubalars, Chulyms, Dolgans, Khakas, Kumandins, Shors, Siberian Tatars, Baraba Tatars, Soyots, Teleuts, Tofalar Tuvans, Tozhu Tuvans, Ukranian Kulaks and Yakuts.

All this in the aftermath of Ivan the Terrible’s and successors’ race to take Siberia, Central and North Asia and other territories, right up through the Soviets and then the current Russian leaders today.

Actually I do question Russia’s narrative also. I believe very little of what they say and am fully aware that the Russian Government has no love for the US.

It is not hard to believe both our current government is not acting in my best interests and the Russian government is also against my interests.

Of course there are other benefits to Russia gaining parts of Ukraine. I do not deny that and I do not deny they have very personal anti American interest in doing so.. That does not mean everything is a lie and the best propaganda is one that use some truth to undermine.

It is not really about Ukraine at all. It is about Russia. Russia is a danger to the world and us. Whether it is more or less corrupt is irrelevant. It is time to clean Russia up. For Russia this is about expansion and rebuilding “greater Russia” and nothing else.

Obviously not now they don’t. But, if they reunite most of “greater Russia” . Learn from their hard lessons who knows where they could be 50 years from now. It is much better and much safer for Russia to be defeated and diffused. Put Russia and all of the troubles we have endured with it out of business and make it over and the whole world will be much better with them gone.

Is Alaska before or after Moldova, Poland and the Baltic states?

Not much conventional forces left for Russia so it’ll be done via nuclear blackmailing a senile old man and his pack of crooks.

China poses a far more immediate and credible treat to the western world than Russia.

Last I checked it was China that put the whole world on lockdown. This might surprise you but Russia is far closer to western values, even with their brand of communism than China and Russia is far easier to understand and obvious about it’s true intentions.

Again I am not saying they are good, just that people think Russia is the biggest threat. I believe it is China that is a bigger threat secularly.

Spiritually I think we have way more to worry about via Assyria, all this is working up to something quite terrifying.

“Sound like a conservative organization to you? So you trust implicitly an organization that eagerly promotes DEI, good to know.”

So what even liberal peacenik organizations now want to see all of the troubles
caused by Russia put behind us. I don't know why you can't envision a better world.

US has ALWAYS denied "bio-weapons labs" in Ukraine.

The bio labs supported in Ukraine (and many former Soviet Countries) is part of the Nunn–Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction which is common knowledge.

I’m sure you are aware that just because someone says they are ‘conservative’ does not mean they are honest or even know what they are talking about? Same with liberals

there are plenty of liars and haters right here on FR

finding a good source is not simplistic like that

Disenfranchising 40 million Ukrainians and dooming them again to slavery in the filthy Russian World is not noble. In fact it is exactly what Democrats are currently trying to do to American patriots. Conservatives are better than that. Or at least we use to be. Now, apparently, we are believing Kremlin Bolshevik fairy tales about “biolabs”, etc. Given that it should not be a surprise at all that American conservativism is in the political wilderness.

Wow! When you look at how much the federal government invests in the Alaska economy and how many federal jobs there are in Alaska, it is a huge tax revenue sink hole.

However, the US would not give it up easily and the people who live there would make life hell for any invaders.

If the Russians gave Biden some personal cash, he would tell them to go ahead and take Alaska.

No, after Putin is gone the Russian/Soviet empire needs to be broken up, its conquered lands restored to those they rightfully belong to, its monuments and landmarks erased...in short Russia must be disarmed and dismantled the same as Nazi Germany 78 years ago.

It cannot be allowed to merely retreat so they can lick their wounds, rearm, and set their sights on another victim.

Enough.
