My husband said R needs a lot of small individual donations to be able to qualify to be on the debate stage. I sent him one because I want to hear him make his case. the MAGA movement is stronger when more people can be heard persuasively articulating it.

From what little I know, to qualify for debates needs poll numbers above some level.
Of course more contributions would help get poll numbers higher.
