Nearly half of New Hampshire Republicans (46%) wouldn’t vote for former Gov. Chris Christie for president “under any circumstances,” according to a New Hampshire Journal/coefficient poll released today.
Still, Christie has his best performance yet in the first-in-the-nation Republican primary: in a ballot test of seven GOP presidential candidates, Christie is in third place with 9% just four points behind Ron DeSantis. Donald Trump leads in New Hampshire with 47%.
Christie’s numbers jump to 19% among moderates and 1% among liberals, which means if conservatives don’t vote next winter, the former New Jersey governor has a chance to win New Hampshire.
While 46% of Republican voters say they would never vote for Christie, 40% said they would never vote for former Vice President Mike Pence. He’s at 5% in the ballot test, followed by Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tim Scott each at 3%.
But an American Greatness poll of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire released yesterday Christie received a modest bounce from his announcement and CNN town hall meeting. The former New Jersey governor is tied for third with Scott at 7% each. Trump leads DeSantis, 44%-12%, putting Christie five points out of second – and 37 points out of first.
The American Greatness poll was conducted by National Research, a Republican polling firm run by New Jerseyan Adam Geller.
“The big story here isn’t Christie; it’s DeSantis. Those who thought I was overselling the problem presented by his rough launch need to rethink it,” said Matt Rooney, the editor of the conservative website SaveJersey. “We’re still ‘early’ but not that early by contemporary presidential primary standards. The current strategy clearly isn’t working.”

Not surprising Republican establishment types prefer one of their own to DeSantis.
Yeah, the establishment really loves a guy who has arrests fraudulent voters, ships illegals to Martha's Vineyard, and fires woke "educators". For sure they prefer a guy like that over one who pushes the clot shot on national TV. /s
