Miami GOP Mayor Francis Suarez has filed paperwork to run for president, according to new FEC filings, marking the long-shot candidate's formal entry to the race.
Suarez is set to speak Thursday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. During an appearance on Fox News over the weekend, the mayor said he would make a "major announcement" in the coming weeks and pointed to his remarks at the Reagan Library as "one that Americans should tune in to."

He won’t stand much of a chance. The nominee will either be Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis.
I agree.
No thank you. These faint support candidates have some kind of scam going, except for Vivek, who is extremely wealthy.
He’ll poll at 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001
Some are lining up to try to make a name for themselves hoping to be picked for Vice President, thinking in some cases they need that exposure in order to make such a case, but with little hope of the nod for POTUS.
His mother voting for him
Very popular in Miami, but he’s a moderate Republican who didn’t vote for Trump in 2020, so doesn’t stand a chance. He can’t be clueless enough to think he does, so obviously has some sort of angle.
During the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election, Suarez voted against Republican nominee and eventual winner Ron DeSantis and instead voted for his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum, engendering criticism from fellow Republicans.[17] Suarez did not vote for incumbent Republican Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
In February 2019, he wrote an article with former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon about how Miami is defending itself from the effects of climate change.[12]
The Republican debates will be interesting.
Has something to do with Trump’s legal problems in Miami.
He’s as “Republican” as Charlie Crist.
Always more room in the Clown Car.
Suarez is a left-wing Demonrat.
Pretty much Ted Cruz.
He will take votes from DeSantis.
I kinda like this guy but it’s just too soon.
