A new report citing U.S. government sources says three scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China were among the first people to have been infected by COVID-19.
The Substack article, co-authored by Matt Taibbi, Michael Schellenberger and Alex Gutenag, says the findings are "significant new evidence" that "strengthens the case that the SARS-CoV-2 virus accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology."
"According to multiple U.S. government officials interviewed as part of a lengthy investigation by Public and Racket, the first people infected by the virus, ‘patients zero,’ included Ben Hu, a researcher who led the WIV’s ‘gain-of-function' research on SARS-like coronaviruses, which increases the infectiousness of viruses," the article reads.
"Sources within the U.S. government say that three of the earliest people to become infected with SARS-CoV-2 were Ben Hu, Yu Ping, and Yan Zhu. All were members of the Wuhan lab suspected to have leaked the pandemic virus," it adds.
Gain-of-function research conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in eastern China has widely been suspected as a source of the pandemic.
"What they were doing at the Wuhan Institute of Virology was taking dangerous, scary viruses and making them scarier," Jamie Metzl of the Atlantic Council told Fox News early last year.
In basic terms, the point of gain-of-function research is to make a virus more dangerous. Scientists argue that, with this research, they can be prepared to handle it if one day the virus were to mutate naturally.

OK, let’s say for the sake of argument that the release of the CHINA VIRUS was an accident. Let’s also postulate that no laws were broken in doing research. Fine (and, no, I don’t believe either of these things).
But how does one explain the fact that Xi at one point banned travel to and from Wuhan to/from all points in China, while simultaneously allowing international flights to both come into Wuhan and (much more importantly) to depart for foreign destinations FROM Wuhan? That cannot be explained away as anything but a purposeful infection of the rest of the world with what was, at the time, viewed as a lethal virus with no known cure. That, folks, is a certifiable Crime Against Humanity. Xi should be put on trial and executed, in the same way that Nazi war criminals were after WW2.

First our government hid all of this. Now that China is helping Russia that is when they agree that this came from China. Of course Fauci played a key role.

You’re jumping the gun. Isn’t it possible that three scientists working at Wuhan became infected and while asymptomatic spread the disease? The scientists don’t live in the Institute, they do go home at night, etc.

How could they possibly be asymptomatic and not know that they are not infected with the most deadly disease ever?

If they were asymptomatic, how would they know they had the disease? Many are asymptomatic at first, developing the symptoms later.

Apparently, some of the blood donations in the SF area in that mid November to next year were infected/tainted with this Covid Visitor from passengers/carriers via planes from China to the west coast. This set up possible/probable carriers for Covid 19, which we knew nothing about.
Whatever I had, lasted seriously until Christmas and didn’t really go away until May of the year of Covid.
About a week before Thanksgiving, I woke up with chest pains, blood in my urine and unable to smell or taste anything.
I had one of the 2 shingles shots shortly before my new health issues in mid November before these events.
Since, I had AFIB before this, my FP sent me to a cardio doc in our PPO. I ended up getting an aorta stent and being put on two new and potent anti clotting/blood thinning drugs and a baby aspirin. We decided ,no go for the 2nd Shingles shot.
In the meantime my old CPap machine was dying and I ended up with a new ResMed CPap, and it worked great.
Finally. on New Years day I was feeling better, and my wife and I had lunch with some relatives.I didn’t really recover until late April/early May. Besides being tired and nothing tasting good. I had zero sense of smell and ached from my neck to my feet.
Then, we heard and began to learn about Covid 19.
Serendipitously, my doctors and my RN wife had come up with treatments which kept me out of the hospital and alive.
Treatments, with what seemed to minimize my apparent bout with early Covid.
The fact that they were doing Biosafety level 4 experiments in a Biosafety level 2 laboratory is almost guaranteeing that someone will be infected and the organism will escape. BSL4 requires a special lab under negative pressure, moonsuits, specially filtered air supply, ante rooms, decontamination, etc. BSL2 basically requires a lab coat and a bench with a hood attached.
