Vivek Ramaswamy Files Freedom Of Information Act Request Against DOJ In Trump Indictment Case
Daily Caller ^ | 06/13/2023 | Anne Brown

Posted on 06/13/2023 9:16:02 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Republican presidential candidate and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy announced his campaign has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) demand upon the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to a June 12 Tweet.

Former President Donald Trump’s indictment relating to his alleged mishandling of classified documents was unsealed Friday. He is to be arraigned in Miami on Tuesday. Ramaswamy’s request asks for any records held by the DOJ in relation to Trump’s indictment. He calls out U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and DOJ Special Council Jack Smith.

My campaign just filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) demand to uncover *exactly* what the White House communicated to Merrick Garland & Jack Smith about the unprecedented indictment of a former U.S. President & Biden’s disfavored opponent in this election. Every American… pic.twitter.com/bnwmn6jGYZ

— Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) June 12, 2023

The “DOJ is being politicized and weaponized against the political opponents of the sitting President of the United States. The existence, timing, and content of the indictment all necessitate both this request, and, one would hope, a completely open and forthright response,” the FOIA request reads.

The presidential candidate previously criticized the DOJ, accusing them of fostering two separate “tiers of justice.” (RELATED: ‘For Goodness Sake!’: Jim Jordan Breaks Down Major ‘Flaw’ In Argument Against Trump)

“We can’t have two tiers of justice: one for Trump, another for Biden. One for Assange, another for Manning. One for BLM/Antifa, another for peaceful protesters on Jan 6,” Ramaswamy tweeted June 8. “This is an affront to every citizen: we cannot devolve into a banana republic where the party in power uses police force to arrest its political opponents. It’s hypocritical for the DOJ to selectively prosecute Trump but not Biden. ”

Ramaswamy also declared that if elected, he will pardon the former president. “Reading that indictment and looking at the selective omissions of both fact and law, I’m even more convinced that a pardon is the right answer here,” he said during a recent interview with CNN, calling the indictment “deeply politicized.”

Ramaswamy called the indictment “not the right answer for our nation,” despite saying his race would be easier if Trump were eliminated from the running.

He is a US citizen, born and raised in Cincinnati......There is absolutely no question about his eligibility to run for president.

I saw a YouTube comment where someone grudgingly gave him credit : "It's a shame when a 'foreigner' (my quotes) running for president knows more about the constitution than Americans do." Made me laugh.

Vivek is a class act! I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. The other candidates need to join in with him.

Your link does not give the immigration matriculation date of his parents at all. And you fail to cite '... to US citizen parents' because they seem to have no matriculation date. It's possible they are US citizens, but I've searched for 1/2 hour without finding it. Maybe you can supply their dates of US citizenship martriculation.

RE: His display of Constitutional issues that define Americans might allow forgiveness of his lack of NBC (nat born citizen) in the minds of voters.

1) We KNOW FOR A FACT that he is a citizen AT BIRTH

2) We DO NOT KNOW if his father or mother or both were citizens at the time of his birth, or for that matter, if this is even an issue since Obama’s election.

I like that guy. He is smart enough to know the democrat demons and swamp rats would be doing the same to any republican candidate or former president. That is what is so infuriating with that smug Mitt Romney and the corpulent Chris Christie. The democrats know what works now and have spent years infesting every single part of the government and culture and will destroy their opponents “by any means necessary.”

RE: But I am curious why you think that.

Because, Trump might just like the way he approaches issues and his directness when he speaks. He might also like the fact that he, like Trump, is an outsider who came from the business world. There’s no better person who can help clean the swamp than someone who wasn’t in it to begin with.

Every American deserves to know. I will host a press conference in Miami tomorrow at 10:30am ET to discuss this & another announcement. If the captured media fails to do its job, real leaders in this country need to step up and do it instead. I’m running to win this election & it’d be easier for me if Trump were eliminated from running, but that is not the right answer for our nation. America First Always.

Yes, it is about MAGA, not Trump.

IF you ignore the media, you will understand that is Trumps position also.

Vivek is an American. He is NOT a foreigner.

You left out the word 'citizen' after 'American'. Intentional misdirection?

Parents born in India, and you cannot give date of US citizenship matriculation? Care to explain how and when they became US citizens?

Wouldn't it be fun to follow the law and remove every law and decision of Obama's presidency for failing to be a natural born US citizen?

RE: You left out the word ‘citizen’ after ‘American’. Intentional misdirection?

That is a distinction without a difference. And no, it is not misdirection, intentional or not ( in my case it was unintentional (SEE BELOW FOR HOW I SEE THINGS ) ):

If I am American, I am by DEFINITION, a CITIZEN of America.

RE: This guys just asking for a DOJ investigation isn’t he?

Whether Trump is asking for it or not, the DOJ will CREATE A REASON to investigate him ( See Russia Hoax, etc. ).

I heard a rumor that he was dropping out of the race and going over to Trump’s campaign. Probably not true

Your link does not give the immigration matriculation date of his parents at all.

That's because the immigration status of his parents is irrelevant.

Explain to me how Kamala Harris was able to run for VP when the same language applies. Both her parents were immigrants and she was born in California.

In 2016, then Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal, ran for president in the GOP primary and both his parents were immigrants and he was born in Louisiana.

In order to run for office, one MUST meet the Constitutional requirements. The eligibility of the above individuals to run for President of the US has never been questioned since they met the "Natural Born Citizen of the United States" requirement.

RE: I heard a rumor that he was dropping out of the race and going over to Trump’s campaign.

That could eventually happen, after a few state primaries show that Trump will inevitably be the Republican nominee.

Vivek is the real deal. If Trump doesn’t pick him to be vice-President, he’ll be missing a great opportunity.

Both her parents were immigrants and she was born in California.

First, three 'wrongs' don't make a 'right' {Hussein Obama, Kamala Harris, Vivek Ramaswamy}. I would welcome a Congress that would conform to our laws and remove the Presidency of Barak Hussein Obama from the history books, proclamations, laws, and whatever else a US President can taint of Americana, as his father was here on a visa, so he was subject to a foreign jurisdiction, as would his child be, Barak.

As for Harris, both her parents were here on passports subject to a foreign jurisdiction when she was born. Her father later matriculated from our immigration program and became a U.S. citizen. Even he says she is not a natural born citizen.

Vivek was born of parents here, but without a date of swearing in as US citizens, we have no idea of what jurisdiction, US or foreign, he was subject to when born.
