Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the Canadian wildfires “truly unprecedented,” in floor remarks on Wednesday, and warned of the ongoing damage caused by climate change.
“This morning, our nation’s capital — and much of the northeast, including almost the whole of my state, New York — woke up once again under a veil of smog,” Schumer said. “As we speak, wildfires of unnatural strength continue blazing in Canada, sending toxic air and smoke over the border and over American cities.”

Back in the 1980's his coreligionist and fellow Brooklynite, Carl Sagan, was calming that forest fires resulting from a nuclear war would lead to a nuclear winter. And what evidence is there that these fires are "unprecendentes"? The 1825 Miramichi fire in Northern New Brunswick killed 160 to 300 people and burned 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 hectares (2,500,000 to 4,900,000 acres). The current Nova Scotia fires have burned in excess of 24,000 hectares (59,000 acres). It is between one-fortieth to one-eightieth as large as a Canadian fire in 1825! There have been dozens of fires since that were much larger than the current Nova Scotia fires.

since when is a wood fueled fire toxic?
all that little stuff in the air creates water droplets whi h means clouds which could bring rain or coagulate into something more.

Schumer is one crazy lunatic.
He should look up the History of “fire smoke” and what areas are affected.
What a Putz.

Only because it affects Chuckies little lungs.....put your old mask on beeeaaach.

Why didn’t Chuckie express concern about the Nordstream explosion, which caused the single largest release of methane ever recorded?

If undergrowth isn’t cleared, the summer will see more fires, even in an ice age.

Would not be surprised if Government’s climate change policy for forests is what lead to a build up of fuel source for the fires.

Accept our Climate Change religiosity or we’ll start massive forest fires.

We never had wildfires before today? Jeez, when Chicago had the Great Chicago Fire, there was a wildfire in the woods of the UP of Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 1946, Maine had the Great Fire. But, you Dems are rewriting history.

California has a fire season every year. I guess Schumer missed all that. Typical east coaster politician. When they get hit with a natural disaster, their needs and concerns are all that matter. All they are getting is the smoke. They are not losing their houses and their towns to actual firestorms.
