New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) says he may open Gracie Mansion, the residence of the city’s mayor, to newly-arrived border crossers and illegal aliens — an offer never previously made to homeless New Yorkers.
During a press conference on Monday, Adams was asked whether he would open his residence to migrants after he announced a plan that would have New Yorkers being paid by the city to house border crossers and illegal aliens in their homes.

Two points.
1. Mayor Adams did not make a definite commitment. Will look into it. Might do it. Maybe. Perhaps.
2. Pope Francis said something similar awhile back. Now here’s the thing. Vatican City can hold around 2000 immigrants. I actually calculated that, based on area. Francis took in something like 8 immigrants. Big deal.
Adams might well do the same. Take in a token few. Put them in a side room somewhere. Then brag about what a wonderful person you are.

Probably.
However, I do have an answer for why illegal aliens vs local homeless. The locals are homeless, almost all of them, because they are insane or habitual criminals or hopeless drug addicts, or all the above.
The illegals are not insane or criminal or addicted, for the most part, just poor. They are civilized if unsophisticated people. They are much less likely to trash the premises or cause embarrassment. Some of them ARE going to be a problem, but the risk is much lower.

Gracie mansion was built in 1799, is an historical site, and should be treated as such! It is also used for city meetings, dinners and balls, not to mention the fact that some of the historical rooms ( kept in tip top shape and are museums pieces )are open to the public and school tours.
The damned ILLEGAL ALIENS will destroy it and part of this nation's history.
The ancient, historical furnishings are irreplaceable and difficult to repair.
Not only is this an historic site, but also located in a VERY wealthy area.
20 years ago we discussed Americans being coerced to house illegal aliens in their homes if it’s determined spare bedrooms exist.
This doesn’t seem too farfetched nowadays.
