Caetano v Massachusetts 2016

In 2016 SCOTUS reviewed a ruling by the Massachusetts state Supreme Court (the "Supreme Judicial Court") in which the "SJC" upheld Caetano's conviction on a weapons charge. She appealed that ruling on 2nd Amendment grounds claiming that the law was a violation of her 2nd Amendment rights.

The "SJC" ruled that the law prohibiting the possession of that particular type of weapon wasn't a violation of the 2nd Amendment a) because the type of weapon involved didn't exist at the time of the Amendment's adoption and b) because the weapon wasn't suitable for use by the military. And IIRC there was a third reason why they denied her appeal.

However,SCOTUS ruled...9-0...that the law did violate 2nd Amendment rights. In the narrative released along with the ruling SCOTUS,at one point, ruled the SJC's ruling to be "frivolous".

I'm no Constitutional scholar but "Caetano" seems to me to destroy any state laws outlawing AR-15s and other big scary guns.

Reading the law I do not see anything that would have prevented Sandy Hook shootings.

Among other things, the changes would ban openly carrying firearms and prohibit selling more than three handguns within 30 days to any one person, with some exceptions for instructors and others.

Other provisions include expanding Connecticut’s current assault weapon ban to include some other similar weapons; stiffening penalties for possession of large-capacity magazines; expanding safe-storage rules to more settings; and adding some domestic violence crimes to the list of disqualifications for having a gun.

Every new gun law is an admission that what was supposed to cure the violence isn’t working. The government is never accountable for laws that have failed and the next one is always touted as the ultimate solution. Ask a liberal what the 1968 Safe Streets Act accomplished. You will just get a blank stare.

"I hate this state."

This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Have initiated my Blue-state escape plan B.

- Pay off what's left on my mortgage this summer.
- Travel down to Tennessee to look at/buy house in the spring.
- Move the family down and put my Waterbury house up for sale.

I see the transition coming. The Bolsheviks are the democrat party and their thug enforcers and the republicans are the Mensheviks. Look at Russian history prior to the revolution. Both have same socialist philosophy except the Bolsheviks use force and the Mensheviks use propaganda and coercion.

The unsaid part is making the most noise. As the hard blue states are joining forces to change the balance of the Supreme Court the Second Amendment is only a tool to them on their way to power. Remember Saul Alinsky? - “They have guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns then it will be through the bullet.”
