When debt ceiling negotiations reached a fever pitch, President Biden made a crucial mistake. To steal a word coined by former President George W. Bush, he severely misunderestimated the strategic prowess of Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.).
In doing so, Biden inadvertently paved the way for McCarthy and the Republican Congress to achieve remarkable conservative victories that will have a lasting impact on the nation.
House Republicans’ shrewd maneuvering resulted in the largest reduction in spending in history — a rollback of nondefense spending to fiscal 2022 levels, the implementation of work requirements for government benefit programs, and the successful clawback of billions in unspent funds from COVID programs.

The Big Guy’s already demonstrated that he can’t spell the word “eight”...I wonder if he can spell “misunderestimated”.

Yeah we won. Right. Just like the little league team earlier this week that “won” the game on a strike out, but the catcher dropped the ball. The team in the field “celebrated their victory” while the team that just made the apparent third out had their baserunners circle the bases and scored the tying and winning run.
And just like that the team that was celebrating was suddenly not celebrating.

At least it wasn’t absolute abject defeat. That’s about the best that can be said.

A Conservative victory?
Is that why so many democrats voted for it?

Remind me again, what exactly did we win? Oh yeah, a bunch of concessions that will be immediately ignored.
