There is nothing petty nor juvenile about calling out someone who changes the pronunciation of their own name. Such an affectation points to shallow character at best, being untrustworthy most likely.
I understand someone changing pronunciation of their name if they move to a country where the word may have a different meaning but what DeSantis shows we’re not dealing with him but with his handlers. He’s just another actor in government pretending to serve his constituents while actually serving those who are pulling his strings.

I don’t recall Trump ever endorsing that idea. I recall him talking about default for weeks. But I haven’t followed his statements the past few days.
These nicknames are golden because they are catchy and have a kernel of truth to them.
Remember Lyin' Ted for Ted Cruz? I remember how Trump took pains to correct people at his Rally saying, "It's not Lying Ted, it's Lyin' Ted. The apostrophe cuts Cruz some slack. After all, everybody lies.
Likewise, "DeSanctimonious" is ingenious. Everybody knows lawyers love to use big words. So the nickname has a ring of truth to it. And that's what the Joe Six-Packs and Jill Wine-Coolers remember.
An effective nickname for an opponent is worth many millions of dollars in campaign treasure.
WAR means FIGHTING - bombs, guns, knives, blood, guts, death.
