DeSantis says he would welcome bill to abolish 'corrupt' IRS: 'We need something totally different'
Fox News ^ | 27 May 23 | Kyle Morris

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he would be "welcoming" of a measure from Congress to defund the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) if he's elected president next year.

The comments from DeSantis, who officially announced this week that he would seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, came during a conversation with radio host and Second Amendment advocate Dana Loesch on The Dana Show.

During the interview, DeSantis was asked whether he would sign a measure from Congress to abolish the IRS through funding means, as well as what he would replace the system with.

"Are you for a fair tax, a flat tax, where do you stand on that?" Loesch asked DeSantis.

"So, the answer's yes. I think the IRS is a corrupt organization and I think it's not a friend to the average citizen or taxpayer," DeSantis responded. "We need something totally different."

I've supported all of the single rate proposals, I think they would be a huge improvement over the current system and I would be welcoming to take this tax system, chunk it out the window and do something that's more favorable to the average folks."

DeSantis, who has repeatedly taken aim at the IRS for its unfair practices and crackdown on the middle class, said last August that an effort from the Biden administration to expand the IRS with 87,000 new agents was an indication of disrespect.

"Of all the things that have come out of Washington that have been outrageous, this has got to be pretty close to the top," DeSantis said at the time. "I think it was basically just the middle finger to the American public, that this is what they think of you."

In reality there is very little the Prez can do by decree (EOs) that reduces the Deep State. USG agencies\organizations were set up by legislation. It takes legislation to undo them! Any politician that says he can either doesn’t understand the Constitution or does but knows his audience doesn’t.

Anyway, I don’t want the President to govern through EOs! EOs are already abused, out of control and create Constitutionally questionable ‘laws’ out of thin air. Can you imagine the damage Zero & now Biden could do if they really could ‘ruled by decree’? Didn’t one of Zero’s rat bastard advisors say something like ‘signature on a EO .. law of the land... Kind of cool’?

Which is ‘why’ I don’t like it when politicians (even ones I support and like) lead you on with lame-azz promises that will never, ever happen. Like I pointed out in a previous post, most of the same RINOs are still in the US Senate. The only change I’ve seen is the RINO population via liberalism increasing.

Not a hopeful trend. I get what DeSantis is trying to do, laying out his anti-income tax stance. But let’s be real here. We’re not a bunch of 3rd graders that still believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus and pie-in-the-sky campaign promises. At least...some of us aren’t...lol.

Trump torpedoed a true conservative in the Pennsylvania senate primary using outright LIES and installed a carpetbagger pro-child genital mutilation, anti-gun dual citizen as our nominee who rightly lost to the braindead Fetterman.

They're blind to EVERYTHING. They've tuned it out completely, and only want to shoot the messenger. Democrat-like thinking at the core - I'm a victim and just want someone to take care of me, in this case Trump. And if Trump says we need the IRS, by golly they really think WE NEED THE IRS!

I asked for a clip of Trump talking about Fair Tax, not your personal opinion about US tax policy.

Try again...

“So desantis wants to switch to another kind of tax? What solution does he have for people who are retired? ....who paid income tax all their working lives, and have no income to pay from to feed some other tax structure?”

Since we’re dreaming, anyway....how about a national sales tax instead of any income tax....which would impose a luxury tax on expensive items that only the elites are able to afford since the Obamanation has taken its toll on the middle class?

Dream on, dream on. The elites control what gets taxed and they would never go for it. They already don’t pay their fair share in income taxes via loopholes and corporate exemptions. The globalist elites will ensure that any laws passed will continue to protect their golden goose setup for....ever.

That’s pretty funny. Your ideas on what Trump should & can be doing at the present time are certainly novel. I also enjoy the persistent fantasy that there was no election fraud and that 83% success of his endorsed candidates in the general elections is failure. LOL whose successes are you measuring Trump against? McConnell? DeSantis endorsements?

It is a leftist tactic that you are employing trying to defeat an opponent by ridicule & mischaracterization. Trump states the facts and educates, he does not ask for pity. You sir, are frankly & repeatedly disingenuous in your Trump bashing.

You really are clueless. First, Rove has already said he is not supporting Desantis - he is supporting Scott or Haley. So you begin with a false premise (or just a lie). Second, Desantis never claimed the Fair Tax was his idea. He can’t support something if he didn’t think of it? That’s ludicrous. Third, Team Trump has attacked Desantis for supporting the Fair Tax, so I guess that means Trump is just fine with the screwed up Tax system we have…

So any way you look at it, a 23% national sales tax is a huge tax cut for everyone, eliminating the need for a large IRS

No.

For people who earned and saved and who now want to spend more than they earn it's a tax increase.

No thanks. It's no a huge cut for everybody.

And I would image for low income people it would be a tax hike. I can't see the Senate ever voting for that.

How many of those elections were lost because so many prominent figures in the Republican Party worked so hard to undermine him?

You can't blame Trump for "losing" elections that the GOP doesn't even want to win.

Let's face it ... the only reason Trump was even nominated at all in 2016 was that the GOP grassroots voters had become repulsed by the inept, corrupt, duplicitous @ssholes who drove the party into the ditch in the first place since the early 2000s.

Whatever the irs gets replaced with, what will prevent future agents of the new agency that replaced the old irs from acting as corrupt as they are now. Tear down, replace it, they’ll still behave badly.

True.

Whatever government agency collects the taxes would become the IRS. So eliminating the IRS is a gimmicky soundbite.

Instead, just simplify the code and reduce the IRS (or whatever you want to call it) to a simple function. Which is why a Flat Tax would be good. But progressives would never vote for a non "progressive" tax, so you would wind up getting tax brackets.

More excuses and blame-shifting for Trump's failures.

Where was the "Art of the Deal" and the great CEO leadership for the candidates Trump endorsed?

If you believe the drivel you posted, then why nominate Trump at all if he can't lead the party to victory? Or do you only give Trump credit when its good and blame everyone else when Trump fails?

Well, nothing like a little grandstanding to get people's attention.

Sorry to say it because there was a time when one was impressed with him. But - he still needs to prove the negative that he's not mixed up with the Bushes and Karl Rove and their ilk.

After Trump, no more Bush Republicans, not never ever.

~~~~~
What do you call corporate income tax?
We already have sales taxes. They are unfair to retirees who have already paid the prescribed income tax all of their working lives. Now that they have no independent income stream you want them to pay your share too.
Karl Rove on supporting DeSantis:
“It’s a myth. I’ve met the man one time. I think it was May of 2021 when he came to speak at a conference that we had here in Texas to reward the volunteers and donors to a big voter registration effort that we had in 2020 and and again in 2022. And I think I maybe exchanged ten words with him. So if I’m controlling him it’s by the superior use of my mind to, you know, to send radio waves to control he and his wife and give them directions and they receive them, I mean, you know, it’s a sign of something that Donald Trump is so worried about.”
Once again, the Trump cultists are caught LYING
Rove does push DeSantis and does trash Trump.
But it's Paul Ryan who has three favorites. It's DeSantis, Youngkin and Scott.
