Study: Devoted Leftists Often Are Narcissists and Psychopaths

This is a claim I have made over and over the last few years. I could not agree more with the conclusions of the researchers and have written about the subject quite a bit.

In 2019 I wrote an essay on why single interest groups and activist organizations far outlive their usefulness and generally morph into something much more extreme, like Antifa. Whether it is Mothers Against Drunk Driving, NOW, the NAACP, abortion rights groups or any other activist organization, they all end up run by the most extreme elements within the movement... so their rhetoric becomes more strident, their goals become less accommodating to those that disagree and their methods and tactics more extreme and totalitarian.

This is because, much like organized crime organizations who are always taken over by the most ruthless, brutal and vicious mobster among their ranks, the most vocal and strident members of any activist organization generally end up at the top of those organizations. And who are these people? In the case of groups like la cosa nostra, it is usually the sociopath, malignant narcissist or dark triad personality that ends up on top because they are people with little empathy, conscience, guilt or remorse and not encumbered by moral and ethical constraints those of us without their psychopathy possess. In the case of the modern-day progressive activist group, it is also the sociopath or narcissistic personality disorder sufferer who has the most anger, is the most vocal, is willing to use the most extreme tactics and demonstrates little concern for who he/she steps on to gain control of an organization.

Not only in many cases do the most extreme members of an organization end up leading those groups, they also draw in more and more like-minded followers, other narcissists who are attracted to the opportunity to demonstrate they care more and are better than others while having an outlet for their narcissistic rage. These are the pathologies that drive a narcissists behavior and lead them to seek control over, not only all those around them, but any group that has them within their ranks, and that is most groups.

One only has to look at Antifa for an example and confirmation of this thesis. No where is narcissism more in evidence than in activist groups like Antifa that are filled with misfits and individuals that don’t fit well into society due to their pathologies, so their anger drives them to activism where they can both prove their superiority and vent the pathological rage that consumes them. When you look at Antifa specifically, you will notice that a fair percentage of their members identify as gay or lesbian... or suffer from some other form of gender dysphoria. Contrary to their behavior, sufferers of narcissism do not have a heightened sense of self-worth, in fact, mental health professionals claim it is a result of low self-esteem and self-loathing. To understand narcissism is to understandwhy Antifa is full of people that hate themselves so much they want to be something other than the gender to which they were born.

Progressive Activists and Narcissism

Have you ever asked yourself why Progressive activists claim to have so much compassion for illegal immigrants while demonstrating so little for fellow citizens who have been harmed by illegal immigration or dare to disagree with them? I will explain this contradiction but first, understand this; they actually have little or no compassion, it is but an act. Most of them are simply hate-filled misanthropes, full of rage.

Most Progressive activists exhibit the typical virtue signalling, false compassion and rage of a pathological narcissist. Real compassion isn’t situational. Truly empathetic people are kind to everyone, they don’t profess how much they care about someone from another country they have never met while calling their neighbors and coworkers “racists” and “Nazis”.

You see, individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), those who exhibit at least five of the nine behavioral traits of a narcissist identified by the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), are pathologically driven to present a false face, a facade, a fake persona. It is the beautiful tapestry they weave over the top of their self-loathing and ugly heart so no one can see the black hole at their core. At the same time, they can barely conceal their narcissistic rage. These traits are clearly visible when observing the behavior of progressive illegal immigration activists.

Illegal immigration activism is the perfect vehicle for the narcissist because it allows them to claim moral superiority and the high ground of compassion while at the same time venting their deep rage at those that dare disagree with the policies they support. Additionally, the fawning support of their like-minded and equally disordered peers provides them an ample reservoir of secondary narcissistic supply which reinforces both their false face and their own delusion that they are better than everyone else.

What narcissist wouldn’t want to be a fully engaged Progressive activist? It is the perfect disguise for their psychological disorder; their activism for the dispossessed proves to them they are a “good person”, provides them a platform to spew their narcissistic rage with a built-in alibi for their hateful and outrageous behavior...... and provides a bountiful source of the primary and secondary narcissistic supply necessary for their mental stability.

A comprehensive understanding of the nature and psychological processes of narcissists and narcissism, a Cluster B Personality Disorder, is an absolutely indisposable tool in dealing with these kinds of people. The greatest fear of a covert narcissist is being exposed for who and what they really are. After lashing out with insults and invective, they will eventually run from you as if you were a lump of kryptonite when you point out their hypocrisy and confront them with their psychopathy in a debate.

To understand narcissism is to understand the modern-day, bile-launching, holier-than-thou progressive activist class
