Two Ukrainian pilots proved they can master the American-made F-16 fighter jets in just four months — more than four times faster than the Pentagon previously predicted — in a performance that is likely to ratchet up the growing pressure on the Biden Administration to send the lightweight warplanes to Ukraine.
Yahoo News on Thursday obtained and published an internal US Air Force assessment that detailed the F-16 training two Ukrainian pilots underwent at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona, in late February and early March. Over the course of eleven and a half total hours in nine separate simulations, the Ukrainian airmen outperformed US expectations in their quick ability to learn the ins and outs of the aircraft, according to the document.
The Department of Defense did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Four experienced US air force instructors assessed the Ukrainian pilots and determined the pilots could perform several "relatively technical" maneuvers, including landing after losing an engine and withstanding mock attacks, Yahoo News reported, citing the assessment.

If Jo Jo is smart, once Zelenskyyy’s boy take care of the Russkis, he needs to send them to do in the Red Chinese. Surely they can outfly any Chinese pilot.

Ukraine has an air force?
Thot they were relying on 13 yo’s with toy drones?
You probably should quit listening to all that MSM propaganda. You’re obviously clueless as to what is really going on over there.
My husband knew a man who did a successful dead-stick landing in an F-16 like thirty years ago. From what I understand the aircraft glides well and is easy to fly. I have to say I’d love to take one out for a spin!
What’s going to happen when these 2 pilots decide to fly the F-16”s to Iran and selling them to the Iranians so they can retire comfortably? I heard John Kerry is waiting to broker the deal.
Yes, Russians will start shooting at Uke F-16s. The problem is that the USAF, Poland, Romania, Turkey, and Greece flies F-16s and all border (or like us, operate) adjacent to the battlezone.
The chance of accidental NATO/Russia air combat is much higher. And the neocon/WEF globalist dream of direct war with Russia is closer.
“Sane people have to rely on Putin the and Russians to be the ones to be the adults and show restraint.”
You mean like how we trusted them not to use the Sochi Olympics as an excuse to stage an invasion of Crimea? Or how we relied on them last year when they (and you) insisted that they were not going to start a broader war with Ukraine? You know, “just exercises”, right?
In short, anyone who still relies on Putin and the Russians to act like adults and show restraint is a damned fool.
“It’s much too expensive a weapons system to just give to some third-world yahoos after a few orientation rides.”
LOL.
I’m starting to wonder if we got it wrong regarding the ‘Ukraine Cheerleaders’ as the only result of Western weapons in Ukraine is that they are getting destroyed (and quite easily) by Russia.
Perhaps these ‘Ukraine Cheerleaders’ really want to knock the US off its perceived perch as the world’s strongest power? Perhaps they’re actually the most anti-American people on these threads?
4 months to proficiency and 3 weeks for English proficiency, if needed - but no one in Europe will have spare F-16s in that time frame.
Seems like the Russians are terrified of F16s..lol
YOu mention China. Interesting trivia I ran across a while back. This is our first WWII fighter ace.

Chinese American from Portland! Flew a Curtis Hawk II in China. Incredible story. I had never heard of him until I was down some rabbit trail reading about the air war between Japan and China before the Flying Tigers.
Naw they’re just idiots. Nothing more complicated than that.
The evaluating USAF instructors had between 1500-2200 hours in F-16s.
I have a co-worker who is retired Air Force. He once told me learning to fly any of the jets isn’t difficult. Mastering the weapons systems effectively and efficiently under high stress is what’s difficult and pilots wash out at.
The 450 is operational only around Moskva and the 500 is not yet operational - still in prototype stages. No more money to develop it further like the joke tank, T-14.

The USAF assessment was a public release and the two evaluated pilots rated very high - above “B-Level”.

The planes they’ll get aren’t going to be the same ones out AF pilots use. These things will be in short supply and when they’re short down, that’ll be it unless these donating countries have more junk they want to give.
