The greatest victory in sports history came when Muhammad Ali knocked out George Foreman to win back the world heavyweight championship boxing title in 1974.
Foreman duly unloaded his relentless bombs on Ali, who spent most of the time leaning on the ropes, soaking up the fearsomely powerful assault.
Nobody could understand this apparently suicidal rope-a-dope strategy other than Ali himself, who had deliberately planned it to exhaust his opponent.
The Greatest didn’t win because he was the stronger man.
He won because he had the smarter tactics, and the courage to execute them.
Donald Trump is the political equivalent of George Foreman — a giant, bruising brawler who destroys opponents with brute force.
But he’s about to face his own Rumble in the Jungle-style fight with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and DeSantis is showing every sign of being the opponent Trump fears most: one who can soak up his punches and knock him out.

Santis better pack a lunch
Only one is bickering ...
A completely inane analogy.
DeSantis doesn’t even reach contender status.
And Trump will completely destroy his brand.
DeSantis would be smart to sit this one out and wait 4 years.
Piers Morgan, Old Poof...
Well done.
He’s been a good governor for Florida and he’ll make a good president someday just not this time. We need a bull in a China shop, a disrupter, a Trump.
I’ve heard this same projection several times over the past few months. However, the polls suggest a widening gap in regards to support for Trump versus that for DeSantis, and conservatives seem to want Trump to have the opportunity to finish what he started.
Trump had to fight against the left, his own party, and every single federal agency, in addition to the media. After the release of the Durham report which confirmed everything we suspected by each of those players, I believe that Trump would have a better chance now of succeeding in implementing his policies. Any allegations against him in the future, will have less effect since, “who is going to believe them”?
Personally, I think DeSantis should stay as governor of Florida to complete his term and then run for President in 2028. However, if he is the nominee, I’ll vote for him as President. But, I sure would like to see Trump get revenge, both on his own behalf and that of his supporters. Not to mention the fact that his policies were actually great for our country. Until we return to a President who believes in “Drill baby, drill”, our economy will continue to decline and our standard of living will continue to drop.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
“All Trump has to do is talk about how DeSantis has refused to secure Florida’s elections,”
So how did Trump and DeSantis win in Florida?
Yep, I love DeSantis, but he is like Oscar Delahoya. Trump is like Pacquiao (yeah I know Pacquiao endorsed Harry Reid and everything, so save it, you neocon warmongers). More importantly, Trump is our rightful president and deserves the nomination. In the lead, follow, get out of the way spectrum, Ron should get out of the way.
Yes, and don't forget Karl Rove.
I remember coming out of a root canal procedure on the Wednesday after Election Day this past November and there was Karl Rove going on the NY area radio talk shows, trashing Trump and pushing DeSantis.
Excruciatingly annoying.
He’s been acting like a candidate for six months.
Yes DeSantis is the neocon choice.
That's your opinion. My opinion is that a very popular governor who turned a purple State bright red wrote a book and went on a book tour to capitalize on his success.
DeSantis screwed up. He should’ve come out supporting Trump right from the get-go, stressing he had no interest in running for President in 2024, stayed in Florida & finished the great job he’s doing, and maybe, just maybe, offer to be VP for Trump. He could easily have slid into the 2028 GOP primary and taken the nomination. Nobody would’ve hated him, he’d have a massively successful Florida Governor record, and there’d be NO ONE worthwhile getting in his way in the primaries.
But now...he’ll look like a fool after Trump trounces him.
I agree with you
He should stay in Florida and do his job.
Do you now wish you had voted for Charlie Crist?
Anybody unable to beat Charlie Crist by 20 points would be Fetterman level useless.
Ron seems good enough. Have you ever heard him talk, watched him talk, observed his body language?
He’s a little cuckish to me.
Trust DeSantis…
🤔
I’ve heard that phrase somewhere before…
I think I can give you a good preview. DeSantis will come out with a few scripted zingers/insults that his staff wrote for him, to try and show that he can stand toe to toe with Trump. They’ll fall flat, and after he used up his ammo, he’ll flounder.
Trump’s strategy will be to throw him curve balls. I don’t care how good you are at remembering pre-written responses. It won’t be effective enough in handling spontaneous attacks from Trump that are happening in real time.
