Here is the thing... Our own government is already spying on us even more than Tik Tok and China. So it is no worse than any of the other apps our government already has backdoors to. But it is dangerous to hand our government the power to ban websites and platforms. You can bet they will find a reason to ban even innocent sites based on their own twisted guidelines.
All browsers, phones, and apps have parental controls to block questionable content. If folks are worried about their kids then spend a few minutes to set the parental controls. It is that easy and our 1st amendment rights are not threatened with laws that will be abused against the people at some point.
Kind of sad the state has to step in. Says a lot about the relationship between many parents and their kids today.
Parental controls are a joke! Most kids are more computer smart than their parents. Kids know how to go around parental controls.
The best thing is not to let kids around computers or smart phones till they are much older and even then limit it.
Home school them because the schools give them unregulated comuputer time
Change the channel. If American’s are brainwashed by a few videos, then it’s been over for the US for sometime.
I’m curious how this isn’t an unlawful attempt by a state to regulate interstate commerce.

But T Tok is China spying on us
I don’t use TC and never have opened up any of them.
A friend if mine watches it, and a while back sent me a link to one that he thought I would like to watch.
He sent it to me in text to my phone, via PRIVATE Message.
I texted him back that I won’t open it cause I don’t want it on my phone.
The next day I went to a news site and what ads did I get?
TC Videos!
China monitors our private messages!

That is best case and I absolutely agree. But the Parents have to set the example and not be hypocrites... :)

There's actually free speech in TikTok, or at least there's more of it compared to Instagram and Facebook where you will get suspended or banned if you said something offensive.
I think it's unconstitutional because it's censoring free speech.
I hadn’t been on it until this controversy popped up. I decided that since everything out of Congress and the MSM is a lie, I needed to check it out for myself... and I did.
I was completely surprised at what I found.
Then I compared the growth of TikTok to that of Instagram and there was the answer. Zuckerberg called his legislators and wanted his stiff competition snuffed out.
TikTok is popular and that would be a bad move for Zuckerberg. If he's not careful, it could lead to a boycott.
