California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Tuesday announced a $60 million agreement to welcome salmon and sturgeon back to the Yuba River for the first time more than a century.
Together with state, federal and local officials, the governor unveiled a landmark agreement that will reopen miles of habitat to multiple fish species. The plans will also enable the return of the spring-run Chinook salmon to their native Yuba River habitat in the Central Valley, officials noted.

THere are more gold panners in the YUBA than salmon....
EVEN ‘stocking’ the river won’t work-—
SALMON return to WHERE THEY WERE BORN TO LAY THEIR EGGS
NEWSOM is nuts.
Some bs agreement with a couple of tribes so they can fish their “traditional way” is all.
Yep if California had spent all those billions they wasted on the high speed train to nowhere on desalination plants they not only would have plenty of water for themselves they could be making huge $$ on selling the excess to landlocked desert states like Arizona and Nevada.
Those farmers don’t need water to grow crops if people will just start eating seaweed and bugs ... yum yum
Why not use the ancient native American method: Slaughter a chief on the shores of the river?
The purpose for the Daguerre Point dam is retention of hydraulic mining debris and to protect navigation in the Feather and Sacramento rivers. These dams have nothing to do with reseviors.
Chinook returned to the Elwah after the dams were removed. To say that the wildlife abundant in contiguous areas will not return because it has been gone for 100 years states a falsity.

that will close miles of habitat to the american public.

You really should look at the Elwah dam removal and restoration project before you shout any more.

I identify as a Chinook salmon.
Please send a check, Governor Newsom.
Where they are spawned or where they are born? These aren’t necessarily the same thing. I assume they plan on planting fertilized salmon roe in the upper river. Even if it doesn’t succeed improving the Yuba River channel is important for people in my county. I’d rather money be spent on improving the Yuba watershed than housing illegal immigrants and giving ‘reparation’ to people who were never slaves in a free state. As I said in the above post, this has little to do with Newsome, it’s been planned going back to the elder Brown.
The Daguerre Point dam is a bullshit dam that can be removed with just a couple of trackhoes. Remove it, absolutely.
No. https://www.spk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Environmental-Projects/Englebright-Daguerre-Point-dams-fish-habitat/
So, if I declare as a salmon . . . I get reparations?
