Humiliation for Putin’s ‘Unstoppable’ Superweapons Blasted Out of Sky by U.S. Defense System

The interceptions are an embarrassment for the Russian military. Back in 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin billed the Dagger, or Kinzhal in Russian, as a “next-generation” Russian weapon. Russian officials claimed that the missile can go 10 times faster than the speed of sound, reach any point in Ukraine, and is able to evade all but the most sophisticated air defense systems. Experts questioned those claims, arguing that the missile is just a modification of an existing missile that Putin was trying to rebrand.

Russian officials must be reeling in utter disbelief after seven of their most sophisticated missiles were blasted out of the sky in an incredible night of drama over Kyiv.

When Ukraine’s Defense Express outlet reported that just one Kh-47 “Dagger” missile had been shot down with a U.S.-made Patriot air defense system earlier this month, it prompted fury in Russia.

On Saturday, U.S. officials told CNN that the Russian missile attack on May 5 was targeting the Patriot itself. The Kremlin (Clowns) had believed these weapons were all but “unstoppable.”

Those Russian claims were left in disarray early Tuesday when a further six Kh-47s were reportedly shot down in a single night.

In one of the most intense aerial assaults on the capital since the war began, Ukrainian air defenses took down 18 missiles that were targeting the city.

The night sky over Kyiv was rocked by explosions as the new Patriot missile defense system responded to an unprecedented, coordinated barrage of missiles.

Six of the highly acclaimed Kh-47 missiles were launched from MiG-31K aircraft, three S-400 cruise missiles were fired from land, and a further nine Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from the Black Sea.

All of them were taken out, according to the Ukrainian air force, with no casualties reported.

I get it.
You just don’t want to admit that your comparison to WW2 is not applicable since your main point of every missile being reported as hypersonic is a bogus invention of yours. Information gathering has vastly improved over the last centuries even decades.

This could have been meant to be the Russian response to the drone attack on the Kremlin:
May 3: drones attack Kremlin
May 5: Russia tests a hypersonic missile against a Patriot battery outside Kyiv
May 16: Hypersonic missile blitz on Kyiv

So we are looking at a destruction and depletion of about 110 -150 million dollars of America's irreplaceable missile inventory in one night For what?

This is range time for America.

Target-practice.

Skeet shooting.

Patriot missiles are currently 6 million 2023 dollars a pop. Don't know where you get your info.

And, yes - the Russian missile is very simple for hypersonic tech.

The cost of the full Patriot battery is estimated at about $1 billion, while each missile costs some $3 million to $4 million.

“Cost of Patriot missile is 3 million.”
Plus cost can be calculated many ways.
With the additional demand for US hardware caused by the need to replenish stocks plus the demand by countries that perceive a large quality advantage to US weapons over their Russian potential competitors, the production runs each year will be significantly higher. Up to the point where additional factories capacity needs to be added, that increase in production will massively decrease the fixed costs per unit produced.
Additionally, any increase in production capacity by the US defense industry is not exactly good news for the Russians and Chinese.

“Dunce. You stand with Russian corruption that is 10x more vast than Ukraine corruption.”

Tell that to the IMF, who has stated that Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world.

US generally provides older systems or those that are expiring, but calculates replacement cost to be of the newest system.

Right, this list of corrupt countries is located where? African countries are the most corrupt.

Every list of corrupt countries always has Russia near the top.

Russia 136/180 in corruption, which is worse than Ukraine at 122

I need more proof before I believe this claim. I saw video of this incident. The Patriot fired a bunch of rockets into the night sky. I couldn’t see if they hit anything. One thing I did see was a large explosion that came from the spot the Patriot was firing from. Would there be larger pieces of the missiles if they were shot down before reaching their target? There has to be something they can do to prove this happened. I can’t take the word of either side as proof.

“””Tell that to the IMF, who has stated that Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world.”””

You must mean the July 11, 2014 IMF report using the 2013 Transparency International study, in 2013 Ukraine was ranked as more corrupt than Russia.

“Ukraine is perceived as one of the most corrupt countries, ranking 144 out of 177 countries in the Transparency International index in 2013.” Russia was at 127 that year.

I’ve not read anything about Mikron reaching that level.

Do you have any links you can share about this? I’d love to read more about it

“US generally provides older systems or those that are expiring, but calculates replacement cost to be of the newest system.”
And sometimes doesn’t replace the systems with a newer version of that system at all.
And, on a different note, costs figures might or might not include research and development. Since those costs are already paid their inclusion in a news article headline figure probably doesn’t make sense.

Russian manufacturing is pathetic. Their proudest, legitimate output is steel pipe for their oil and gas projects. Rus know how to do this at least.

Too many Roooosky intelligentsia, Jews and non-Jews, have left Russia in the last 30 years. Many/most of Rus hi-tech programmers left after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. They might be in Kazakstan and Geargia. Well beyond the reach of Poootin’s press gangs, that will send them to doom in Ukraine.
