The Durham Report's lingering consequence for Joe Biden, Congress and U.S. allies

Current president was briefed in August 2016 about Clinton plan for Russia collusion dirty trick

Special Counsel John Durham’s final report will have lasting consequences far beyond the FBI failures he unmasked in the now-discredited Russia collusion scandal.

President Joe Biden, as he faces a re-election campaign, Congress as it weighs whether to end warrantless spying and U.S. allies often enlisted to help U.S. intelligence all face "sobering" questions from the report’s bombshell revelations.

In the end, Durham’s top line conclusion Monday was hardly unexpected: The FBI had no evidence or intelligence to warrant opening a probe of Donald Trump as the GOP nominee for president in 2016, disregarded its own rules to protect civil liberties, and failed to heed blinking red sirens that the Russia collusion allegations were nothing more than a political dirty trick by Hillary Clinton and her supporters.

But the questions of what to do with those truths and how to impose consequences for the bad behavior highlighted in the 306-page report are hardly settled.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan began the process of resolving those issues – summoning Durham to testify before his panel next week while suggesting Monday night his colleague may use the power of the purse to defund actors who allowed the Russia collusion probe to persist for three years in the absence of any justification or evidence.

Several key players also face new questions about their own behavior.

The current president – already facing harsh questions about whether his allies in the intelligence community played a dirty trick in the 2020 election by falsely portraying the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation – was outed in Durham’s report as having been briefed in summer 2016 about a plan by the Clinton campaign to manufacture the Russia scandal against Trump.

I find it hilarious that many here on FR quickly dismissed the Durham report because this document could easily form the basis for multiple lawsuits by Trump against many who are me prominently mentioned in the report.

Based on the Dunham reports findings, what is preventing Trump from filing civil lawsuits against many of those John Durham detailed ?

Hmmmm...????
So Donald Trump’s civil rights were violated? I just wonder if he can find any of the Personal Injury law firms to handle this case on a contingency basis.
Heck! Lawyers keep coming up with new angles, so maybe there is a Class Action case here.
We all knew this Steele Dossier thing was manufactured trash. While it is nice to have the Durham report say as much, accountability is still pending.
Justice delayed is justice denied.

Putting the marker down right here, right now: Unless the FBI is fully defunded and completely dismantled after this, and includes prosecution of those actors within the FBI that perpetrated this TREASON on the People of the United States of America, then our country is completely lost.

Do I expect anything other than "hearings" and "strongly worded letters to come of this?

HELL NO!

I will simply say this: Evil only prospers so long as good men stand idly by and do nothing.

How long O' Lord? How long??

I've had my tagline since Nov. 2000 and never saw a reason to change it. Today, it's more appropriate than ever. Little did I know how prescient it would turn out to be.

No, we are just severely jaded after decades of the same BS corruption and dirty tricks. It gets worse and now FAR FAR worse than ever before. This is the biggest scandal in US history. But we all no nothing will happen to any of them.

The communists went after Nixon with the full support of the press and bagged him. Nothing like that has happened since even though the malfeasance and crimes are 1,000 times worse. For crying out loud, the Biden Crime Syndicate abetted by the “Intelligence Community” has sold out the USA to China and Lord knows who else. They stole the election from Trump.

Do you really believe anything will happen other than the demise of our Republic?

You are right. There will be a serious push from the top down for the federal law enforcement agencies to keep their actions better hidden. There may be a firing or two but they will be low level flunkies or someone who doesn’t want to go along with the plan.

The DOJ just fired the IRS whistleblower

I don't think the DOJ can "fire" an IRS employee. Do you mean that DOJ told the IRS to remove some people from its investigative team and the IRS actually did it?

What a coincidence!

Isn't that what Biden did to the prosecutor in Ukraine who was investigating Burisma?

Is he doing it again with his own government agencies?

I think we agree we’re not in Kansas any more. I would guess it’s legal for DOJ to try to convince the IRS that they believe criminal charges against IRS crooks would go nowhere, if that’s what they did, but this is all weird. Biden threatened Ukraine would lose $1B in US aid unless the prosecutor was fired. Who knows what Garland’s minions threatened.

I would think the DoJ's play is to tell the IRS to hold off on its investigation because it would interfere with a DoJ investigation, and then the DoJ would stonewall its own investigation.

You’re right but my point, which I admit is another issue than J6, is that the Black Hole of D.C. prison has been a hell hole for a long time and it’s not believable that politicians, judges and prosecutors in the D.C. sphere of politics and law are not all aware of it.

There is no outrage whatsoever that a prison in the nation’s Capitol operates like a prison in Turkey, Somalia or Peru.

Frankly all of them, politicians, judges and prosecutors, should spend a couple of years there prior to any reforms in its operation.
