DeSantis: GOP 'Must Reject the Culture of Losing,' No More 'Excuses'
News Max ^ | 5/14/2023 | Eric Mack

While echoing the policies and positions of former President Donald Trump, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis took some veiled shots the runaway GOP primary polling leader – blasting Republicans as having been losers.

"We must reject the culture of losing that has infected our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over. We've got to demonstrate the courage to lead and the strength to win."

"If we make the 2024 election a referendum on Joe Biden and his failures, and if we provide a positive alternative for the future of this country, Republicans will win across the board," DeSantis said. "If we do not do that, if we get distracted, if we focus the election on the past or on other side issues, then I think the Democrats are going to beat us again, and I think it will be very difficult to recover from that defeat."

Trump regardless of the outcome of the election, will only be around for 4 more years, without control of the House and Senate who are willing to go along with his agenda, the results when he leaves will be same as before

You're not getting it. It's impossible for conservatives to gain control of both chambers of Congress because the Republican establishment will never allow it. Look at McConnell and the establishment did in Alaska to keep Murkowski in the Senate and hand Democrats a House seat.

A strong President like Reagan or Trump IS THE ONLY mechanism for any change.

And, don't give me this bullsh$t about Trump not accomplishing anything. He put judges on courts that overturned Roe. His economic policy gave us the lowest unemployment in 50 years without the 40-year high in inflation. We were energy independent. We had record low border crosssings.

You narrative is a false one.

He said this in IOWA! A state that has gone from voting for Obama twice to becoming more RED than Florida. That started in 2016. There’s hardly a Dem left in the state legislature. DeSantis had nothing to do with that, yet he comes to Iowa and says “hey, you have to stop being losers”.....Maybe he should be asking Governor Reynolds of Iowa or Trump how Iowa became so RED. Sorry Ronnie, coming to Iowa and calling them losers isn’t going to help you there. And you can have Feenstra....another RINO wannabe.

Really you think this party manufactured line towing fool is a win?.. he could of been somthing ...instead he’s just another Romney uniparty clone now

It’s amazes me How many people still don’t get it? They think if someone with an R by the name that’s all they need.

It’s like Arnold Schwarzenegger when they ran him for governor I knew it was a disaster and that was the end of California. When they put him in

Nope I observe and DeSantis has zero charisma. He is cow towing to the big GOPe money and could never stand up to the media. If he didn’t have an overwhelming republican majority he would be toast.

Notice how the just passed a retroactive law to hide his travel expense, and will let him run for office while still holding office in Florida. Hmmmm, reminds me of something, now what could that be? Oh I know, people like changing rules about mail in ballots, and not needing to verify signatures. Same kind f sleaze.

You sound EXACTLY like the left, splainin’ why I should support a candidate they recommend and not the one I like.

Why is that Rod?

No matter what you think of DeSantis, the man GETS THINGS DONE.

Ok. I like what he did in Florida. However, he did that with a very good conservative legislature and he faced 1/100th of the resistance within the state bureaucracy that Trump did. He also faced about 1/10th of the legal challenges.

If Trump had the same situation as DeSantis politically when he was President how much more could he have accomplished?

Paul Ryan loves him. Why?

Why should I have Trump fatigue and pray for another “Trump without the baggage” when the media will shred the next guy just as badly? At least Trump can take it and keep swinging.

Can all the RDS fanbois form a club and vote on a spokesman/woman?

They already did, Ronna McDaniel.

It sounds good until you think about it. In another time and place this is the way to go.

Right NOW, we need a fighter. The very thing the sheep and liberals criticize Trump on is EXACTLY what is needed now.

Ah, but ‘excuses are us’ is the modus operandi of lingering Trump voters here on FR. It seems that every thread constantly repeats the narrative that if only, blames everyone else, says there were no good people for Trump to pick or trust from, etc. I look forward to DeSantis, joining the race, and expect he will match or even beat Trump in the polls within 30 days of announcing. Sadly, the fireworks will be depressing here on FR.

By the way, if he is such a perfect candidate for 2028, why not 2024?

I would like point out your false equivalencies, Reagan if I remember correctly never have a Republican controlled house or senate, but still managed to get legislation passed, by negotiations. That may be impossible in today’s environment.

The most long term success Trump had was the Federal Courts, why is that ?? He had a Republican Senate that went along with his choices, what happens if the Democrats control the Senate during a 2nd Trump term ?? People like Gorsuch, Barrett and Cavanaugh will never get on the court under Democrats, not to mention all the lower court appointments.

The tax cuts if you add up all the taxes that Biden increased in the Inflation Reduction act have disappeared, same goes for all the regulation reform Trump accomplished thru executive orders, most if not all were wiped out in short order by Biden.

Trump’s immigration policies have all been reversed, why ??? He could never get Congress to go along even when he had a Republican Congress and Senate, it was all done thru executive orders which Biden wiped out on Day One.

Even with a Republican House and Senate, Trump could not get border wall funding or any significant immigration reform.

What about Trump’s foreign policy decisions, all have been undermined and reversed in record time.

The point I was making before your tirade is Trump will have little to no long-term impact in Washington without an agreeable Republican Congress and Senate and that is doubtful, even then you would still need that type of situation in Washington for 2-3 more Presidents.

When someone points out that Trump is not god-like, the sycophants come out of the woodwork to complain.

He’s going to lose, unless the Creep State fixes the primaries, caucuses, and conventions for *both* parties this time.

Trump has a mandate to rubble the likes of FBI..

And a few other alphabet agencies.. maybe even things like the CDC,NIH...

The entire swamp actually..

That mandate didn’t exist in 2016.

It does now..
That’s one consequence of the stolen election of 2020.

The swamp is due to burn one way or another..

Trump has the mandate to light it up now.
With extreme prejudice.

No other R team member does.
None.

Because Trump has declared, he’s the favorite by far, now even CNN has to admit it and pick him up, and because Trump has proven he will finish the job

DeSantis is a nothing in this race

Here is a statement that is as true as “Trump can’t win.”

“Trump will win without you, but DeSantis can’t win without me.”
