A jury has found that Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll.
The panel of six men and three women also found that Trump injured advice columnist Carroll in a Manhattan Bergdorf Goodman dressing room and defamed her, ordering the former President to pay her $5million in damages.
Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct or assault by more than two dozen women, but this has so far been the only case to end up before a jury.
Carroll, 79, sued for battery under the Adult Survivors Act, a law passed in New York that allowed a one year window for sexual assault claims normally outside of the statute of limitations.
Her claim for defamation was based on statements made by Trump, 76, when he was President and posts to Truth Social, his own social network in which he called her a liar.
Over two weeks the jury heard emotional testimony from three accusers and two of Carroll's friends, among other witnesses, while Trump himself was a no show.

So now Trump will get kicked off a bunch of ballots since he is legally a convicted sex offender ... Leftist game, set, and match.
It was civil, not criminal.
“Someone somewhere at some point in time raped me. Now pay up!” Nice “legal system” we’ve got.
so your advise is pay the 5 million and walk away?
The law required a unanimous verdict.
IIRC, she and someone else were communicating about how much they hated Trump and she said she had a surprise. Not long after, she filed the case.
NY jury rules against Trump; Trump's poll numbers up
Biden abusing that gal? Meh!
Yes, you can, earlier today on FR someone posted, the judge instructed the jury that even if Trump kissed her against her will, that would be considered guilt.
Remember this is a civil trial not a criminal trial the standard of proof is not the same.
Now I know that either you aren’t attorney or you are an attorney who should increase your legal malpractice insurance coverage.
I’m not understanding the logic of this verdict.
E. Jean Carrol Specifically accused Trump of RAPE. The Jury found Trump NOT GUILTY of rape probably based on lack of evidence. But then decided that he committed sexual abuse.., based on what evidence?
The charge was rape, not sexual abuse!!
If they did not find enough evidence to convict Trump of the former, on what evidence did they base their decision on the latter?
It’s totally illogical to me. Somebody please help me understand this.
Did they play the interview with Andrew Cooper?
Civil case
Carved in stone at s DOJ entrance, “Where Justice Ends, Tyranny Begins”
So we are in fact living with tyranny!
“You can’t bring up new facts on an appeal.”
No, but you can claim the trial court erred in not allowing some evidence to be introduced at trial, and and on some of the motions of the defense that were denied. And, you can appeal on the jury charges.
I just don’t see how he could be found liable for defaming her when there is a record of her rape sexual fantasies. It would seem she defamed herself.
Apples and oranges
She had two people who testified that she called them when the “incident” happened, I wonder how much $$$ she promised to pay them?
She is being financed
Since this is a civil not criminal case, he is convicted of nothing. Just supposedly held liable for one persons accusation with no proof.
