Is the mall a gun-free zone?

Most likely kinda. Most of the malls in the DFW area are owned by some corporate holding companies, and they have no-gun policies, but half the malls don't bother posting 30.06 or 30.07 so you can legally carry. Or the mall entrances might be posted, but none of the side-store ones are, so it's not a legally correct posting. Either way, usually some security guy will ask you to leave pretty quickly, and at that point it's a legal request for you to not carry there.

Lots of places say “No Guns” in the Seattle area. Unless it is a bar, school or courthouse the worst they can do is ask you to leave. If you don’t leave, then they get get you for trespassing.
