Reports say that the officer was at the mall on another call. He heard the shots and ran toward the sound, engaged the shooter and took him down.
Also states that witnesses said the shooter stepped out of his car and started firing. It happened very quickly… even police response. Sounds like this didn’t go on very long at all.

Well I wouldn’t know about this type of gun - but just how the guy outfitted himself in Swat type clothing ( who was often seen in Scurity Guard Clothing prior) tells a story in itself. I often think these people who ‘dress the part’ are trying to pretend to be something they’re not. Texas has specific signage requirements for open (30.07) and concealed (30.06) carry that have to be conspicuously displayed at all entrances.
OR, someone with ‘apparent authority’ to act for the owner can ask you to leave, and that then has the same force of law as if the business was properly posted. And yup, it’s then a trespassing charge.
51%+ bars, schools, and certain buildings are also auto-no carry, but it’s a gray area if they don’t past legal notice that you are on such grounds, especially if you aren’t knowingly going into that area.
