He didn’t say it when he met with supporters — including a Jan. 6 defendant

No TDS there. /s

[Trump] moves away from the Republican brand

************

How can you have a "brand" that stands for nothing?

He won’t be running as a Republican, he will be running as an independent... And the result will be another 4 years of Biden, or whomever is alive to take over from Biden when he either dies or is wheel chaired away to an Alzheimer’s unit.

Independents typically result in losses for one party or another... Just ask Al Gore (Ralph Nader), or Bush 1 (Ross Perot).

“Fox News and [Senate GOP leader] Mitch McConnell and the Republican donors have basically signed a pledge to stop Trump at any opportunity. So, why should he be touting the Republican Party?”

Because if he gets re-elected he will get absolutely nothing of any permanence done without support from Congressional Republicans. And I'm still waiting for that border wall.

The presidency is not about Trump's personal grievances - we're electing a man to do a job for us, not for himself.

GOP isn’t going to do him any favors - DeSantis already has raised more money than Trump and he’s not even a candidate yet.

Mitch McConnell and the Rhino donors have basically signed a pledge to stop Trump at any opportunity.

Good. The GOP is full of cowards and sellouts, who wants to associate with that? I hope he forms a new party, I would join in a heartbeat. To hell with the Republicans that have allowed the destruction of America without a fight.

To get the job done, Trump will need a solid Republican Congress. Therefore he can not shed the brand. He needs them and he needs us - plus independents. He can do it.

Let’s see, what is a Republican brand? Tax carve outs for wealthy, constant war, benefits for illegal aliens, butt kissing the Chamber of Commerce, and lipspeak regarding social issues to get elected. Once they get elected, they claim they don’t have the votes to honor any of those pesky social issues.

Oh, and they walk across the aisle and bend over.

Yep, dump them Trump.

What Trump needs to change is to be more “presidential” and stop the off-putting braggadocio, needless confrontation and daily drama that characterized his Presidency. Some of that was instigated by the press but he need to understand that such behavior hurts him, especially with women.
