JUST IN: DeSantis vows to outlaw CBDC, resist federal government if unilaterally authorized by Federal Reserve or Treasury
"They want to get rid of crypto [...] In Florida, we'll have a prohibition against [CBDC to make sure] we don't have a financial surveillance state."

Stick to green backs based on GOLD! Where is the gold and how much does our country have? Why is it a big secret? Is it gone?
(to make sure] we don’t have a financial surveillance state.”)
I admire the effort but I expect they’ll get their way.
I’ll be glad to be proven incorrect.
Agree with him on that. Countries should not give away their sovereignty and people should not surrender their freedoms.
The administrative state will hopefully be brought to heel by the Supreme Court’s review of the notorious Chevron decision wherein regulatory agencies have for decades usurped representative government. Anyone with half a brain should know that changing the medium of exchange requires legislation, not some tyrannical action of the administrative state. Note that one of the liberal justices had to recuse herself in the instant case so success for meaningful review seems even more likely. This case could have a major positive effect on damping down the administrative state.

The only way to stop this will not be by an election. We have seen that the bad guys are not going to comply and will continue because they are in control of every lever of power.
If the U.S. Mint and the Fed Reserve stop minting coin and stop printing paper just what is DeSantis or any State official going to do about it? Short of taking up arms, what else you got?
It's not nearly enough to cover all the paper that's been printed.
Good question. Let's find out.
Should note that US govt wants CENTRALIZED digital. Decentralized digital is fine - that’s why the feds are trying to regulate it out of existence, as they can’t control it.
DeSantis is a real conservative. Trump is unfortunately pro-Pfizer and pro-Disney.
What does any of that have to do with anything? Your Trump bashing aside, take a stab at my question in post 7.
The thing that is destroying the United States very quickly, and most critically, is the invasion on the southern border of millions of illegals. Trump has pledged to gather them all up and send them back. Has DeSantis pledged the same thing? Preventing digital money is important, but it is only rearranging the chairs on the Titanic’s deck.
DeSantis is a real conservative....
And yet, he is guided by Bushie Rove and Paul Ryan.
How does that work?
...and why has DeSantis only had jobs that include a government signed paycheck, according to reports?
Is that conservative?
“DeSantis is a real conservative....
And yet, he is guided by Bushie Rove and Paul Ryan.”
Please describe or list the things DeSantis has done that document your point. No one seems to be able to because his actions contradict the trope.
“...and why has DeSantis only had jobs that include a government signed paycheck, according to reports?
Is that conservative?”
So to be a conservative, one is not permitted to work in the government. Right.
gold is now at 2011 and climbing
Agree with your point however IF DeSantis abandons Florida for possible aspiration to higher office NOW, all momentum he has will be lost as the rank and file R voter(NOT the rank smelling GOPers) will turn their collective backs on what will be seen as just another republican opportunistic A-whole out to look good at looking good without the required depth of character. Sure hope it isn’t his wife pushing hard to be the next Jackie O because THAT will never ever happen.
big period.
Why doesn't DeSantis uphold the Constitution that he swore to protect and defend by effectively exercising one person majority power to outlaw CBDC for all the states by publicly pointing out that the states had expressly constitutionally limited themselves to using only gold and silver coins for legal tender?
"Article I, Section 8, Clause 5: To coin Money [emphasis added], regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;"
"Article I, Section 10, Clause 1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts [emphases added]; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility."
Note that Justice Joseph Story had indicated that drafters of Constitution were aware of post-American Revolution problems with regulating value of paper money which is why drafters limited currency to gold and silver coin.
In other words, paper money effectively nullifies the fed's power to regulate value of money.
"It has been justly remarked, that the power "to coin money" would, doubtless, include that of regulating its value [emphasis added], had the latter power not been expressly inserted. But the constitution abounds with pleonasms and repetitions of this nature."—Joseph Story, Article 1, Section 3, Clauses 4 and 5, Commentaries on the Constitution 2:§§ 732--33, 735--39
"It is further to be observed, that the states cannot issue bills of credit; not that they cannot make them a legal tender; but that they cannot issue them at all. This is a clear indication of the intent of the constitution to restrain the states, as well from establishing a paper circulation, as from interfering with the metallic circulation [emphases added]."—Joseph Story, Article 1, Section 3, Clauses 4 and 5, Commentaries on the Constitution 2:§§ 732--33, 735--39
The reason that we're not using strictly gold and silver coins anymore is that Constitution-ignoring FDR wrongly ignored first leading Congress to successfully petition the states for appropriate constitutional amendment to repeal Congress's unique power to regulate value of money before he signed constitutionally indefensible executive order to confiscate gold.
Executive Order 6102
President Woodrow Wilson also wrongly ignored first leading Congress to successfully petition the states to amend the Constitution to give power to regulate value of money to constitutionally undefined Federal Reserve (Reserve) before he signed bill that established the Reserve.
In fact, since ordinary qualified citizen voters still have the power to indirectly "regulate" the value of money by electing representatives who still uniquely have the constitutional power to do so, the establishment of the Reserve wrongly weakened constitutionally enumerated citizen voting power imo.
Are we having fun yet? 8^P
It's as if Democrats and RINOs have studied the ideas that constitutional lawmakers had rejected and are now implementing the ideas as policy to try destroy the constitutional republic.
