Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said he would attempt to shut down the FBI and replace it with another entity if he’s elected president.

During an interview with “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Ramaswamy, a businessman, suggested that he does not want to “defund the FBI” after host Chuck Todd suggested it.
“I didn’t say defund the FBI. I said shut down the FBI and replace it with something new,” said Ramaswamy on Sunday. “I think it’s a new apparatus built from scratch that actually respects the law instead of making it up.”
“So you’re going to replace the old FBI with a new FBI?” Todd asked in response. “With a new institution built from scratch to carry out federal law enforcement,” Ramaswamy said, “because the existing FBI, the people who work there, have worked there for so long they’ll be getting in their own way.”
“I personally believe someone who’s running to actually run the executive branch of the government, when you have a bureaucracy whose culture becomes so ossified, every once in a while, you need to turn it over,” he told “Meet the Press.” He added: “We need federal law enforcement, but that institution has, in a bipartisan way, become so, I think ossified in its own norms, in its own corruption, that we need to rebuild it from scratch and have something new take its place.”
When Todd suggested that Ramaswamy wants to “replace the old FBI with a new FBI,” Ramaswamy stated: “The problem is there’s people who have worked there for decades.”

“What I say is, if I’m the U.S. president and I can’t work for the federal government for more than eight years—which I think is a good thing—then none of those bureaucrats reporting in to me should either,” he added. “There’s people who have worked there for decades,” he said.
Republicans in recent years have become increasingly critical of the FBI, accusing the agency of targeting the political opponents of Democrats while not investigating actual criminals. Former President Donald Trump has perhaps been the chief critic of both the FBI and the Department of Justice and said both agencies have engaged in a longstanding witch hunt to politically wound him.

“I like this guy more and more everyday.”
But why does he want to shut it down and replace it? If it’s a top-management problem just replace the top management.
I retired from the FBI in 2009, I saw what Obama and Mueller and Eric Holder were doing to the agency. There has always been a percentage of the Bureau that are classic bureaucrats, who think there power is absolute and they are accountable to no one.
The entire mission of the FBI is based on unconstitutional concepts. There is not SUPPOSED to BE a national police force. There’s not even supposed to be a Dept. of Justice. There is a reason why the original founders didn’t provide for either. It’s the reason we now have a police state.
....conducted by former FBI employees.
You don’t have to fire everyone and start new. Fire the top third of management and find the ones willing to lead in a better direction. Vivek is 100% correct, heads need to roll. Same with DOJ.
RE: Abolish the FIB. It was created by an executive order, it can be abolished by one.
If so, then unless the President is someone like Vivek Ramaswamy, then it won’t happen at all.
My advice to Vivek, is that, as an outsider, if he’s truly serious about running for President, is to start building a team, the people he will eventually have in his cabinet.
This is what Trump failed to do, and it cost him.
Don’t forget the military, heads need to roll and all appointees from Bama, and Biden have to be fired!
Once corruption takes over an agency, there is really no way to clean it up. Starting over is the only good course.
IS THIS PERSON ELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT???
WERE HIS PARENTS US CITIZENS WHEN HE WAS BORN???
Me too
Keep thinking that
Unless you have the money for a SCOTUS review (which you will lose). Then just breathe
IF it were only management then the agents wouldn’t cooperate
Unfortunately, at a homeschool convention recently a mother proudly told me of her FBI son, who is totally woke.
No, I don’t believe this. During the Russia Hoax, NOT ONE FBI rank-and-file that we know of resigned; not one came forward as a whistleblower; not one that we know of objected in any meaningful way.
So, if someone is “staying under the radar,” he is part of the problem in my view. I’m not trying to be hysterical here, but seriously, if a Nazi who was involved in shipping Jews to the camps just “stayed under the radar,” would it have absolved him?
Not picking a fight. But asking for many Freepers who said they would not support Minion in 2012: would you all support a Hindu?
Can Christians in good conscience vote for someone who believes in Shiva? Or any other pagan gods? I’ve heard many here say they would never vote for a Muslim. How would he be different?
“I have known (and still know) many fine FBI Special Agents.”
Have any of them raised even a single word of objection to what’s become of their agency?
If they haven’t, they’re not “fine”, they’re complicit.

His Hindu faith is a bit troubling, but it’s not a deal breaker. He is Pro-life and is a true conservative. We need an effective pro-America President. We don’t need a Pastor. Jimmy Carter was a Christian and a terrible President. I’m sure there were many non-Christians/Hindus/Athiests that voted for Donald Trump who is a Christian. Trump didn’t reflect their faith, but reflected what they saw as great leadership.
Ok, not saying I agree, but would you have said the same about Minion Romney’s Mormonism? Because that alone was a deal breaker in 2012 for many Freepers.
