Propaganda is what comes out of Russia and there is nothing truthful in their words.
Virtually everybody else is trying to discover the real truth behind the lies.
Even pro-Ukrainian sources will tell as much of the truth as they've learned, including bad news.

As for doing nothing, as you recommend, the quote often attributed to Edmund Burk, or John Stuart Mill, applies here:
