Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said in an interview late this week that the reason Democrats are not going to primary 80-year-old President Joe Biden is because of right-wing extremism.
The socialist senator made the remarks during an interview with Chris Wallace on CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.”
“Why is it that not a single leading Democrat is willing to contest that nomination in the primaries” Wallace asked. “Why do you think that is?”
“I suspect that it has to do with a fear of the growth of right-wing extremism in this country, and that is the Republican Party over the last number of years, accelerated by Trumpism, has not become not a conservative party, but a right-wing extremist party,” Sanders responded. “And this is a party that — not all, by any means, but you have many of the leaders who actually don’t believe in democracy anymore. You have many Republicans maintaining the lie that Trump actually won the election.”

“Right wing” has become meaningless — especially “extreme right wing”. It’s essentially anyone who’s not leftist.

I don’t understand what he’s talking about.
It is unusual for incumbent presidents to face serious primary challenges in their own party.
So to say that Biden is not facing any serious primary challenge, because of fear of Republicans and all that, doesn’t pass the smell test.
Which presidents in recent decades faced serious primary challenges? President Ford faced a serious challenge from Reagan in 1976, and Ted Kennedy posed a serious challenge to Carter in 1980.
Have any Presidents since then faced any serious primary challenges?
You don’t understand him because he seems to have taken public speaking lessons from the Vice President.
It’s amazing that all the power-hungry rats are willing the perpetuate the lie that he’s physically and mentally capable of continuing to serve now, let alone another term. To hell with the best interests of the country. I’m not one of those who go first to the theory that others, such as Newsom, have been threatened with physical harm if they run.
