the Trump snowball is turning into an avalanche .... as well as it should given a former President who invented MAGA and who is leading massively in the polls and adored by tens of millions of grass roots supporters ...

it makes zero sense to waste time, energy, and money on totally pointless and divisive internecine warfare ...

anyone at FR who is still advocating the above warfare at this point is clearly an enemy of MAGA and for all practical purposes a supporter of dementia joe ... it’s time to close ranks and try to save our country ...

if Trump can’t win, then no one can, and i do NOT mean that as a cute, empty slogan ... i mean that as an accurate analytical summary of what we face in 2024 ... no one else on the GOP stage is even close to having the experience, mental toughness, and fortitude to stand-up to, and fight, the massive fascist forces arrayed against our Republic and we regular citizens ...

so all of this talk about “we need to pick someone who can win” is complete bullshit, and harks back to the rational we were always spoonfed by the RINO/GOPe traitorous scum who told all of us that we HAD to hold our noses and vote for the piece-of-shit McCain’s and Romneys of the world ...

that no longer works now that we FINALLY have the leader who has lead us out of the RINO desert, a leader whom we’ve all prayed for for decades ... so it’s utterly insane to abandon that leader because “we should only vote for someone who can be elected”, or any other bullshit reason the anti-trump forces here are genning up again like they did in 2016 ...

[He did a little better in the popular vote, increasing his number by 0.4%.

What? Trump gained 12.3 million votes.]

Vote numbers increase naturally as a result of population increase, for the same reason that budget numbers increase. Biden’s vote numbers increased even more than Trump’s by over 15m, because of early voting and vote-by-mail. (There’s also the fact that unlike Hillary, Biden wasn’t the most hated Democratic pol in the country). While Trump was wasting $100m in campaign funds and rally-goer time by holding his rallies, Biden was hiring people to round up paper ballots from people who don’t ordinarily vote.

People have this idea that Trump got the greatest vote % in history because he held these rallies. If rally attendance predicted popular vote %, Trump would have gotten the highest popular vote %’s, not the absolute rock bottom for any winning president where there was no credible 3rd party challenger. Trump’s 2016 EV win involved the lowest (-ve) popular vote margin in a century.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_elections_by_popular_vote_margin

People don’t vote because of campaign speeches. Government workers vote to pad government funding for their departments. Blacks vote to keep racial quotas going. Gays vote so they can get gay quotas set up. And so on and so forth. Union members vote to get the government to force their employers to raise their wages and prevent those employers from firing them if they goof off. That’s why Biden won - he went after all the demographics that normally support him, not all of whom show up on election day.

Trump should have done the same for *his* demographics. Instead, he held these showy, wasteful rallies. It *seemed* to work for him in 2016 because of Jill Stein’s fortuitous help in 2016. (Add her tally to Hillary’s number, and Hillary wins the election).

Desantis has a golden opportunity.

But if this report is accurate he is very close to blowing it.

While my recollection is slightly off, Trump got 46.1% of the vote in 2016, and 46.8% of the vote in 2020, both of which were lower than Romney’s 47.2%.

Trump regularly misleads by claiming to be the most popular president in history by pointing to his higher vote tallies compared to prior GOP candidates. The fact is every presidential election will involve more votes for both winner and loser that are higher than their predecessors because the population has been increasing at a fairly rapid pace for literally centuries, which is how we got from 3m in 1776 to 336m today.

I think the Times may be divided on DeSantis. They certainly hate Trump, but you see both plus and minus these days as far as DeSantis.

They probably just want DeSantis to win the primary. Easier for the Dems in the general.

Trump increased his vote total by over 20%! The population increased by about 1.5%.

Saying that Trump's numbers increased because of population growth, is not correct. It's not even close.

Trump has LOST Five Times in a Row since 2018.
Do you recall the 2022 Midterm Wipe Out ?
The brilliant Dr OZ and Walker Candidates

CORRECT. Trump has a loyal core following. But he is an anchor in general elections. 2016 was a long time ago politically. He's personally old. His brand is older. It's expired.

Seems to be a pattern. Desantis ignored the Florida J6er family phone calls, too.

You mean all those people Trump could've pardoned?

[Trump], who is leading massively in the polls

Which polls show Trump massively leading Biden? What are the names and dates of these polls?

And Biden improved on Hillary’s 65m tally by 25%, for the same reason as Trump - early voting, vote-by-mail *and* population increase. In 2020, Trump ran into the same problem as in 2016 - his popular vote share remained lower than Romney’s because he is deeply unpopular. For every additional vote he got, he motivated at least one person to vote against him. Without the Green Party’s Jill Stein on the ballot in 2020 to divert Democrat votes, he simply could not beat Biden in the key swing states.

Not only is he a billionaire donor he is also the new owner of WABC radio and hosts Cats & Cosby which is the #1 show in the time slot. He was probably reaching out for an interview. WABC is just the biggest station in the country reaching across most of the eastern half of the United States. At least he could return the phone call. He can’t be tougher to get to than the President. President Trump just an interview with them and it was excellent.

Trump’s donors are WE THE PEOPLE, NOT mega donors!!! Trump is there for us and we ALL KNOW IT!!

No less than 29 individuals and couples donated at least $1 million to Donald Trump and Trump SuperPACs during his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. Here's the top ten:

Timothy & Patricia Mellon $70.19 million
Ike & Laura Perlmutter $31.75 million
Kelcy & Amy Warren $17.19 million
Walter W. Buckley Jr. & Marjorie B. Buckley $14.15 million
Patricia Duggan $4.96 million
Thomas & Rhonda Peed $4.78 million
Bob Duggan $4.59 million
Anthony & Lynda Lomangino $3.13 million
Lynda & John Blanchard $3.05 million
Palmer Luckey $2.79 million

There was nothing to pardon at the time. January 6 people were put in jail during the Biden resident regime. Trump couldn’t pardon them and he had nothing to do with it. Trump was out of office.

As I pointed out in an earlier post, DeSantis and many of his supporters think that Biden really did get 81 million votes.

Most of us Trump supporters think that is wrong and can give you a long list of the reasons why.

DeSantis seems to have done some good for Florida and in turn, for the U.S.A.. Was he a scoundrel all along or did he simply grow too full of himself? Wife and I were voting Trump any way.

Trump could've offered a blanket pardon for any federal crimes that may or may not have been committed at the Capitol on January 6th. There was precedent. Carton pardoned all draft dodgers, many of whom had never been charged with a crime.

Additionally, Trump himself pardoned Steve Bannon who had not been charged with a crime and was only under investigation.

He could've pardoned them all. He didn't. Sure raised a ton of money from it though!
