Republican Mega-Donor John Catsimatidis Withdraws DeSantis Support
Breitbart ^ | 27 Apr 2023 | HANNAH BLEAU

Another Republican mega-donor has publicly stated he will not support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should he choose to run for president in 2024.

John Catsimatidis, CEO of Gristedes, knocked DeSantis’s communication skills, telling the Washington Examiner that DeSantis does not even return his phone calls.

“Why would I support somebody to become president of the United States that doesn’t return phone calls?” he asked.

“Why do people contribute to people?” he asked. “They want to have access and to be able to have a discussion.”

He added that he has “never in 30 years of doing politics asked anybody for anything or a personal favor. Never.”

According to the Examiner, Catsimatidis in 2018 donated $15,000 to the DeSantis state campaign but gave even more, $600,000, to the Trump Victory fund the year after and into 2020.

Catsimatidis is hardly the only GOP mega donor voicing concerns about backing DeSantis, as many are reportedly having second thoughts about supporting him, should he run.

However, for Catsimatidis, the issue is very much rooted in the lack of communication.

“Everybody answers my phone calls. I’ve never had a situation like [this],” he said, adding that he does not want to give more funds to “somebody that doesn’t return phone calls,” even if he is a good governor.

“I would rule out supporting him at this point,” Catsimatidis said, according to the Examiner. “If you’re putting it in the same context of Donald Trump vs. Ron DeSantis, I would pick Donald Trump in a second.”

That seems to be what he admits - that he wanted “access”

Desantis is setting himself up to be the John McCain of 2024.

When McCain ran for President he trashed the Republican competition and the media was his megaphone, backing him to the hilt.

Heck, when he was asked who his constituency was - he openly replied - “The Press and the Media”

That was right up until he somehow won the Republican nomination against Barak Obama.

Once he had fulfilled his part to squeeze out the more electable Republicans and had become competition to Obama he was brutally attacked and torn apart by the press that had always been his ally and best buddies. DeSantis will be the media darling in the primaries with the media egging him on rewarding him for destroying Trump as a viable winner in 2024 if Trump eventually wins the nomination - which he almost certainly will. A severely wounded Trump will have a much harder time winning the Presidency

If DeSantis does succeed in beating Trump as nominee the media will flip on him and he will be brutally taken down by the media in the general election just like McCain was. DeSantis is not yet ready for that kind of attack.

Like they did with McCain, the Media will sit on the oppo research on DeSantis during the primaries and then hit DeSantis with an unrelenting barrage of real and phony mud slinging to carry Biden over the finish line.

Biden will win and complete the take over of the country , Trump will be timed out out of Presidential politics and DeSantis will be forever destroyed as a national candidate because the MAGA wing of the Republicans will blame DeSantis for the loss in 2024.

Trump is the most vetted and investigated person in American history and they have uncovered nothing on him, which is amazing. His negatives have been driven as far South as possible with the lies of the fake media.

Now those lies are being exposed and even some of the never Trumpers are figuring out that Trump has been slandered and they have been had by phony, made up reporting on manufactured conspiracies. People are looking at Trump in a more positive light .

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-inauguration-hillary-bill-clinton-standing-ovation-a7538716.html
[Donald Trump lead a standing ovation for Hillary and Bill Clinton at his inaugural luncheon Friday afternoon.

“There is something that I wanted to say: Because I was very honored – very, very honored – when I heard that President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton was coming today. I think it’s appropriate to say... I’d like you to stand up. I’d like you to stand up.”

As the room broke into a nearly 30-second ovation, the new president gave a thumbs up and said, “Honestly, There’s nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people.”]

As a long-time Hillary donor, I’m sure Catsimatidis felt compelled to support one of her most fervent fans.

I think reality is sinking in that the situation is dire and only a guy like Trump has a chance to win and tame the Deep State. Mini-Maga DeSanctus isn’t going to cut it.

Guess Trump is better and handing out favors to the people that purchased him?

Did you read the article? Catsimatidis said that he has “never in 30 years of doing politics asked anybody for anything or a personal favor. Never.”

Trump won a smaller % of the popular vote than Romney not once, but twice. He tanked two mid-terms and gave the Democrats a Senate majority. He’s had his chances, came up snake eyes on the second try. We don’t deserve a third. Even the first time was a fluke, where Jill Stein torpedoed Hillary’s campaign in key swing states. Jill Stein isn’t running in 2024.

It’s truly amazing that Trump ran against the most unpopular pol in the country, Hillary, couldn’t come up with a popular vote majority, and got an even smaller % of the vote than *Romney*, the man quoted as saying he loved firing people, *twice*.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election

The issue isn’t just with Trump likely losing the White House - it’s the downticket effect of him depressing the GOP vote and spiking the Democrat vote, as have occurred in every race since 2016.

None of DeSantis’s negatives matter one bit.

What matters is that he has been chosen and groomed to make sure that whether he or Newsom is elected in 2024, the interests of the Deep State and the “donor community” will not be damaged.

You, DeSantis and many of his supporters apparently don't think that Biden and the Democrats cheated to win in 2020.

If DeSantis wins the primary, he will easily lose to the cheating Democrats in the general election exactly because of your naive point of view.

And your another one who is naive enough to think that Trump didn't win in 2020 and that the Democrats didn't cheat.

It's that naive point of view that will cause DeSantis to lose in 2024 if he is the nominee.
