Tucker Carlson, who caused headlines all over the world owing to his abrupt departure from Fox News, broke his silence yesterday in a video on Twitter.
Tucker began on a philosophical note.
He reflected on how liberating and gratifying it feels when one exits the bubble and insanity of the news world and meets regular people who are kind and well-meaning.
“One of the first things you realize, when you step outside the noise for a few days, is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country. Kind and decent people, people who really care about what’s true, and a bunch of hilarious people also, a lot of those. It’s got to be the majority of the population even now, so that’s heartening.”
Tucker also revealed that a break often lends perspective and an understanding of the bigger picture and the issues that matter.
“The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are, they’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them. Trust me, as someone who’s participated.”
Tucker taking aim at the mainstream media and perhaps his former employer said that the issues that really matter are often ignored in favor of the latest ‘emergency’ or ‘scandal’ or frivolities.
“And yet the same time, and this is the amazing thing, the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all—war, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources.”
Tucker lamented the lack of meaningful debates where participants marshal their arguments in a passionate but disciplined and meaningful manner and respond to their opponent’s perspective.
Debate is the bedrock of democracy and a fundamental component of freedom of expression.

Debate presents a forum for everyone to be exposed to a wide variety of ideas which always leads to growth.
This is why tyrants such as Leftists abhor debates.
They know their power remains in maintaining the status quo; they also know that their ideas are deficient, dangerous, and ridiculous and if their supporters are exposed to fresh perspectives, they may sway and abandon their party
So, they suppress messages that violate groupthink in an attempt and brand their challengers as bigots
The ultimate goal is to outlaw political opposition and have a permanent hold over power.
BKMRK.
Now Tucker can take the gloves off. He is basically the new “ Limbaugh “ with all due respect.
The one thing people might have realized by now is that...
when people (reporters, hosts, contributors) say that FOX news doesn’t tell them what to say or what to talk about, or that they don’t interfere with what you want to cover...
well, those people are lying.
“..Tucker lamented the lack of meaningful debates where participants marshal their arguments in a passionate but disciplined and meaningful manner and respond to their opponent’s perspective...”
That is what I would like to see on FR rather than a bunch of meaningless one-liners!!
Carlson: The prominent Conservative personality went on to condemn how “unbelievably stupid” mainstream media’s debates are.
“The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are. They’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing.”
“In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them. Trust me, as someone who’s participated. And yet at the same time, and this is the amazing thing, the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all,” Carlson continued.
“War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues? It’s been a long time. Debates like that are not permitted in American media.”
“Both political parties and their donors have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it. Suddenly the United States looks very much like a one-party state. That’s a depressing realization, but it’s not permanent. Our current orthodoxies won’t last. They’re brain dead. Nobody actually believes them. Hardly anyone’s life is improved by them.”
“This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue, and so it won’t. The people in charge know this. That’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion. They’re resorting to force. But it won’t work. ”
“When honest people say what’s true calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars who’ve been trying to silence them shrink and they become weaker. That’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are some, and that’s enough.”
“As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. See you soon,” Carlson concluded.
I agree. I always try to post meaningful one-liners.
Congratulatons Fox and the Rupert Murdoch. You wanted a new company and a new direction. Now you have it. You will be 4th or 5th in line of the Socialist engineering media. Before you were the 1st of a ‘Middle of the Road’ cable news company. That company changed when two weeks ago, forever, and Fox will be relegated to last place of a losing cadre of Socialists.
> He is basically the new “ Limbaugh “ with all due respect.
Yep. And we’ll have the retrogrades on this forum declaim denials of it for years ;-)
BTW, I really like the “declaim denials” phrase. ;-)
Tucker has a bright future.
Bread and circuses for the mind.
RE: That is what I would like to see on FR rather than a bunch of meaningless one-liners!!
EXACTLY! DITTOS.
I have been personally attacked here in FR for merely posting a news or remark made by someone in the news that some FReeper finds offensive without even asking me if I agree with it. They simply ASSUME that just because I posted it, I must agree with the item being posted.
Ad Hominem arguments are all too common.
“..Tucker lamented the lack of meaningful debates where participants marshal their arguments in a passionate but disciplined and meaningful manner and respond to their opponent’s perspective...”
Tucker must not have been watching his own show on Fox. Debate is the last thing that is on there these days. It became almost entirely preachy monologues and recycled “expert” guests. That’s far different from how his show began or his career previously.
I saw that too, and I think the other poster who said “gloves are off” is right. I suspect that he’s about to burn someone’s house down.
RE: He is basically the new “ Limbaugh “ with all due respect.
I don’t know about that. He does not strike me as having the “happy warrior” humor that Rush had. Tucker is more serious in his approach to the news.
I’m not sure if he can make humorous lines like “In my formerly nicotine stained hands” or “This is for you in Rio Linda” or “Talent on loan drom God”
I remember when Tucker Carlson would have Lefties on his show and would demolish them. After a whiles they quit coming on.
It seems that Tucker Carlson was fired for being Tucker Carlson.
Well, those days are gone. Now that schools are so dummied down ... people can't even make a sentence with a subject and predicate.
Don't believe that? Listen to public officials and law makers, etc. Even journalists have lost (if they ever possessed) the ability to make clear and succinct statements! Forget young people... there is NO academic rigor in their 'education' so don't expect that they even recognize proper and meaningful statements.
Missed this time.
