Eighty-four employees at Amazon.com Inc.’s Palmdale, California, location have agreed to organize their union–DAX8–with Teamsters Local 396, a move that marks the first time that Amazon workers have affiliated with the Teamsters.
Drivers and dispatchers won what is known as “neutrality and voluntary union recognition” to join the local after negotiations with Teamsters Joint Council 42, the Teamsters said Monday in a statement.
The agreement, which will be voted on by the members in the coming weeks, includes immediate pay increases, substantial hourly raises in the fall, provisions that hold Amazon accountable on health and safety standards, a grievance procedure and other benefits, the union said.
Full details of the agreement will be available upon ratification by the membership, the union said. Amazon was not immediately available for comment.
Amazon workers marched on the company in Palmdale on Monday to respect their right to organize and to work with their delivery service provider (DSP), Battle Tested Strategies, to honor the terms of the agreement, the Teamsters said. DSPs oversee Amazon delivery workers.
Other efforts by Amazon workers to unionize have not gone through the Teamsters, although the union has a division dedicated to organizing Amazon workers.
I am not pro union but Bozo deserves this.
Now it will be even more cost effective to replace them with robots
I don’t think the Teamsters will help them much. Employees with most locals worked pretty cheap and were easily discarded, last I saw.
Replacing workers with robotics has nothing to do with the spot price of labor.
AI and Industrial Robots will soon follow.
The Teamsters will ensure that Amazon suffers a slow and painful death.
Take it from someone whose Dad was a part of UAW in Detroit during the 70’s. There are some good parts to being in a union, but first thing, you should want it to be your decision as an individual, right?
You should not be told that your first few paychecks will go 45% to The Union, and joining is a condition for employment consideration.
Amazon will cut the hours of the union workers and flood the warehouses with foreign scabs.

Th teamsters blocked delivery of critical blood supplies t needy patients when they were trying to unionize my workplace.
I can speak for myself… but even after that there was lots of support. There were also a couple of new sports cars in the parking lot.. union pushers.
Souls for sale. I did find out you can legally keep them from taking dues for political causes. If every union member did that, it would show them for what they are… a money launderer for progressives and big gov.
