Texas Senate passes bill allowing state law enforcement to arrest illegal migrants

The Texas Senate has passed a bill authorizing Texas law enforcement officers to arrest foreign nationals who’ve illegally entered Texas from Mexico.

SB 2424, which creates a state criminal offense of improper entry from a foreign nation, filed by Sen. Brian Birdwell, R-Grandbury, passed the Senate along party lines by a vote of 18-12.

Birdwell argues the federal government has abrogated its duty to enforce immigration law and “Texas had to fill the gaps.” However, he also said in a statement, “Texas peace officers would not be enforcing federal immigration laws, but rather a new state-level crime created by the bill: illegal entry into Texas from a foreign nation.”

The bill would create a new offense, “improper entry from foreign nation,” in state penal code. It clarifies that those committing the offense are an illegal “alien” who “enters or attempts to enter this state from a foreign nation at any location other than a lawful point of entry; eludes examination or inspection by United States immigration officers; or attempts to enter or obtains entry to this state from a foreign nation by an intentionally false or misleading representation or the intentional concealment of a material fact.”

About 50 million too late. We’ve been invaded by our enemies, all at the behest of a treasonous govt.

You and I agree, but modern lawyers, politicians, and judges largely scoff at the 10th Amendment.

Regardless worsening economic conditions in other parts of the world are causing a flow of migrants whose ultimate destinations are the UK, Europe and the USA.

I listened to CBC Radio in Canada the other day that border is becoming more active record numbers moving south into the US some dying trying to cross the prairies in the winter.

Agreed. Had Greg Abbott started sending illegal aliens earlier, he’d be one of the front runners for the nomination. He’s usually too slow on the trigger for my taste.

As an example, I would have relieved the entire chain of command of the Texas Guard for the drowning death of our soldier in the Rio Grande. You don’t allow your soldiers to enter a fast moving river without a flotation device. Plus, I don’t recall any mention of rules of engagement.

Texas and Mexico share 1,254 miles of common border and are
joined by 28 international bridges and border crossings. This
number includes two dams, one hand-drawn ferry, and 25 other
crossings that allow commercial, vehicular and pedestrian
traffic.

Not that we should even be having to,pass such laws, but, since the left insist, then Every decent state in the nation should pass th3se laws- force the illegals to gO to woke sanctuary states where 3/4 of them will go on welfare or some gov programs for the rest of their lives like all the other illegals already here do (yes, almost 3/4 come here to grift off th3 gov- it’s a lie thst “most want to come here to work to contribute to the nation)

Just occurred to me. About 4 or so years ago, I never thought the word “woke” would become an everyday word, but here we are, using it in nearly 1/4 or better of comments beczuse it describes the idiocy of those who live it so well.
