Brainwashing is a terrible thing.

It becomes cult like. Cant see the forest for the trees.

The NazicRAT party is a cult, for example.

“ DeSantis was probably not invited to the Trump rally.”

I don’t assume that at all. Trump will take on board anyone who will support him. Most of all governor of Florida whoever he is

Thats my view of what Trump has done

In any case there’s nothing I see that would support the idea that trump didn’t invite DeSantis

Trump endorsed DeSantis for governor

Trump works for the good of the country in his capacity as president or candidate

When he says DeSantis is a problem it’s because he’s not for us. We shouldn’t trust him. That’s what trump said.

People assume trumps got other things going on and DeSantis did something disloyal in another capacity

What is trump doing?

He gave up his businesses he gave up his life as it was

What? DeSantis flirted with Melania? No

I imagine DeSantis bowed out of trump camp someone is supporting him

People assume that DeSantis could do a good job like trump. That he’s nicer than trump so he should do the job

No if DeSantis has no obstacles then it’s because he works for the same people who’ve been messing with us and they want him in. Media friendly. Military complex

Why is a professed Republican incessantly attacking another Republican who hasn’t announced his candidacy?

You mean DeSantis, the guy who’s been touring Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina? I can’t imagine why Trump would be treating him as if he were running. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t believe in giving an opponent a grace period.

Maybe he wants to get the mudslinging over with sooner rather than later. DeSantis has painted himself into a corner. He thought that waiting to announce would help his campaign. His PR team could continue with the image making while avoiding the criticisms any candidate faces once they declare.

Now that Trump has decided not to play along, DeSantis is caught deciding whether he should announce now - so that he can begin responding to Trump’s attacks - or continue the pretense a little longer.

DeSantis campaign strategy was likely, to take a similar approach to Ted Cruz in 2016 - that is, to avoid aggressive, direct attacks on Trump and play the “adult in the room” routine. In fact the “adult in the room” routine, AKA Trumpism without Trump, is the only strategy that has even a chance of working, but it’s still going to be a long shot.

If he wants to attack Trump on policy, it would be a bad move since Trump’s policies are generally very popular.
If he tries to out mud-sling Trump, it just doesn’t work. That pretty much goes for all of Trump’s opponents. It’s not in their personality to do it effectively. Besides, it undercuts one of the main distinctions they try to draw between Trump and themselves.

This is what was discussed here weeks ago...

All DeSantis is a stand in, someone they hoped would take out Trump. But Trump has a welded bond with 75 million of his good fiends. This bond has not been seen in modern American history, you’d have to dial back to the founders to see this kind of relationship between a leader and the people.

Even if DeSantis won the nomination, knocking out Trump, you bet your azz a big portion of those 75 million will never forgive or vote for DeSantis. I’m one of them.

It’s already divided. Has been for a long time. The difference now is that after Trump was elected, a lot less people are willing to hold their nose and vote for a POS candidate, just to keep the seat red. I’ll never do it again.

You'll notice that I'm not endorsing DeSantis for 2024, I'm supporting DeSantis waiting until 2028,with a gig in the Trump administration in 2026.

Attacking another candidate like DeSantis instead of Biden is what divides the party, not healthy competition which makes it stronger.

““ The elites CAN NOT allow an outsider in office again. That is what this is all about.
So, what they have done, and will continue to do, is back a candidate who will tow the establishment line.
And that is what is happening with DeSantis.”

Right

So why is DeSantis and 90% of freepers falling for this?”

As I have asked numerous times, what actions has DeSantis taken while governor that back your allegation that he tows the establishment line. Those listening to the Trump propaganda never answer. I wonder why?

Hurricane cleanup. That’s his job. They pay him for that.

And yet he took off for some other state last week when Ft. Lauderdale had 25 inches of rain. Stop

Here’s what DeSantis supporters say. Fisrt this guy says he can’t support trump since trump can’t win an election. He can’t? Why not

Because the establishment won’t let him. That’s McConnell and the republicans and the democrats

Why don’t they want a GOP (Trump) 75% to democrat (Biden) 25% presidential election to go to the landslide winner, whom the voters want? Because they don’t work for the voters. They don’t want what the voters want.

DeSantis voters want what the establishment wants. Why? How is that going for them? Do they ask , “who is asking DeSantis to run?” It’s not Floridians. They just swore him in a governor a couple of months ago.

Do they ask “who’s supporting Desantis?” He’s not independent like Trump was, able to take smattering of support from all without being beholden to any few corporations

DeSantis has worked for government his whole career. He doesn’t have that kind of money

Then DeSantis supporter says:
“… didn’t like that DeSantis signed a six-week abortion ban and wants him to moderate his stance on the issue. It wouldn’t hurt for DeSantis to “be a little more conciliatory” in his demeanor”

DeSantis supporters are wimpy and passive like he is regardless that he was a lawyer for the Navy Seals.

I’ve spoken with them

They want things the way they were. They want a nice guy whom the media will report on fairly.

The only people the media will be nice to are people ruining the country

What is the obstacle to seeing that reality?

They think the media hates Trump because he’s rude?

Go to a happy hour with the press and find out how easily offended they are in reality

They hate us. Trump is just in their way

“I would love to see DeSantis as VP to Trump in the White House “

DeSantis is not a yes man and wouldn’t be Trump’s VP. DeSantis is his own man. I would like to see DeSantis have two clean terms.

He is presently ruining his chances for 2028. You think he can run now?

You think trumps going to get in fox everything, get the senate back and the media will be fine with us then DeSantis is going to breeze in supported by the Bushes as he is?

No

“A primary should be brutal; this is survival of the fittest.”

Fine, it can be tough as long as it the issues being debated and not dishonest or personal. Trump fails at both. He is giving the Leftists gifts to use against DeSantis if and when he is President.

Too bad DeSantis' more ardent supporters here on FreeRepublic don't follow your advice.

I notice you didn't mention that.

Makes you kind of a hypocrite, doesn't it?

Is it legal to hold a national Republican only pre-election? I believe that a pre-vote would establish a baseline for analyzing and comparing election numbers from each state to the actual election. Although it may not prevent cheating this could provide data to challenge a future media narrative.

Any thoughts ?

“I think he wants to build a national presence and become a member of President Trump’s Cabinet in 2026 when his term in Florida is over.”

DeSantis is his own man and does not want to be Trumps “loyal” lackey.

I think 2028 is a long time away.

I also think the Senate is divided and can go either way. The 2024 map is tough for Democrats, and I hope that President Trump will have yuge coattails, making it easier for him to get his nominees confirmed.

“IF DeSantis is the right guy he should be able to withstand a trial by fire.”

Agreed, but on the issues, not cheap shots or misleading rhetoric. So far he has shown he can more than handle the mainstream media and then some.

“On the other hand, a Trump/DeSantas run would be a winner.”

NOT. DeSantis is not a loyal yes man.

Not lackey, but as AG for two years DeSantis will have the opportunity to build up his own DC machine that will be ready to go when he runs in 2028.

The Republican problem has been having no Rolidex to draw on when they get to DC. Trump relied on establishment insiders and got stabbed in the back.
