House Republicans’ go-it-alone debt limit bill would pair a $1.5 trillion increase in the debt ceiling expected to last into next year with $4.5 trillion in savings, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Wednesday.
The bill unveiled Wednesday, dubbed the Limit, Save, Grow Act, proposes reverting discretionary spending for non-defense programs to fiscal year 2022 levels, while proposing limiting growth to 1 percent annually over the next decade.
It will raise the debt limit by $1.5 trillion or through March 31, 2024, whichever comes first, McCarthy told reporters.

Non-starter from the beginning. Go back to pre-pandemic levels or bust. Simple as that.

As long as they get a freeze in spending I’m good with it.

If your landlord raises your rent by $500, then lowers it by $100 the following month, you didn’t get a $100 rent reduction, you got a $400 increase.

Politics is the art of the possible.
One would have to be pretty dumb to expect spending to actually be *CUT* (not to *want* it to be cut, but to actually think that was going to happen).
To: ChicagoConservative27
And McCarthy thinks he is being responsible with a
$1.5 TRILLION increase????
Recall this clown. Get Jim Jordan in there instead of Frank "bad rug" Luntz's secret roomate/gay boyfriend.

Is this a debt ceiling -- or a floor?

Yeah that’s the traditional liberal logic.

There should be a way to make leftists pay for all of this because they are the only ones who support all of this.

Not just liberal logic, apparently.
We’re doomed as a nation.
